Now, thats what I needed to read. That article should be required reading for all of those ltanding on the ledge, ready to jump before the 1st game. I know Walls is hard to replace, but guess what, he will not take a snap, so get ready to love someone else!

i think mcneil really has a chance to show out this year plus it will give gray a chance to see some action in the nickel. and hes a soph. so with walls coming back next year and gray having game experience and our offense seasoned we are onj a path to history guys. some may see this as a bad thing. i see it as a blessing in disquise.

I think looking back we will say, hmmm... never thought ND was going to win a NC in 2008 without Darrin Walls, just goes to show you never say never

I really think that McNeil will step up. Like I said in another thread, The kid was a stud at the AAA game a couple years ago.

I like McNeil too, but I wouldn't count out Gary Gray. I think he is going to turn out to be a stud DB.

I'm just glad they decided to bring Lambert back for a fifth year that still gives us quality depth when Gray comes in for nickel situations

I agree on Gray, he just needs some time on the field. He hasn't played since the 2006 HS season. (besides practice and BG game)

thats why it will be great to let him see some action in the nickel or dime packages. he cant be a mainstay on the field at this point but he will see how the college game is different and make some mistakes but also learn so much more than he ever could watching film or in the practice fields. next year he will be a great asset for our defense with experience and youth

Me too! Corner is definitely a position where you want an experienced veteran. You have to have a short memory. A younger player may lose his composer if he gets beat. Mike Richardson used to get torched all the time when he was younger. However, he turned out to be a pretty good corner before he left ND.

I thought Lambert was better last year than in 2006. He rarely got beat, he just needs to work on making a play on the ball and turning at the right moment. I have a feeling he and McNeil both will surprise.
