i dont understand how any wr in the country would not want to come here. we have two of the best qb's in the country a young team that is growing together and nothing but up side. plus if they show out they can get early pt. makes too much sense for them to come here

Football: Inglewood's Evans still creating quite the buzz : Varsity Times Insider : Los Angeles Times
Football: Inglewood's Evans still creating quite the buzz

There haven't been many updates on Shaquelle Evans recently, so I figured it was time to check in with the junior from Inglewood and see how the whole recruiting process has been going over the last month or so. Sure enough, there's plenty of new information.

Last time we heard from the 6-foot-2, 200-plus-pound receiver, he had 12 scholarship offers from Division I programs pending. That number has increased to 17, and according to these quotes, it appears as if Evans will visit one of his suitors, Notre Dame, in September.

Plans are in the works for trips to LSU, Michigan, Ohio State and Tennessee in the near future. UCLA and USC are among the other programs interested in Evans, who has said in the past that he'd like to make a verbal commitment before his senior season. Stay tuned for more updates.

It should also be noted that as of now, the only scheduled trip is to ND. He says he wants to make trips to other places, but the longer that takes, maybe those don't happen.

First, thank you JP for the multimedia link.

After wathing the highlight films, I now see why Evan's is getting so much of your guys love. He has outstanding speed, adjusts and fights for the ball extremely well and has the style to make the "big play". If Shaquelle has one weakness to work on, it would definitely be his route running skills. I saw too many occasions where he rounded off his routes relying too much on his speed.

That being said, I agree with all of you who think this kid is a great fit at ND in CW's offense.

The fact that ND is his first trip is huge! ND is a very overwhelming place. You walk onto campus and you can feel you are becoming a part of something. The longer he doesn't make it out to those other school, the better the shot he's ours.

Lets just pray he values education and the idea of getting out of LA and on to bigger and better things. I liek to see guys get away from home and experience what great places like ND have to offer. Even beyond the gridiron ND will offer him way more oppertunities than SC will. I just hope he realizes that and thinks long term instead of short term and go with SC.

I HATE SC!

Just saw a Rivals story, I don't have an account there, but the preview made it look like he was pondering an early commitment. Since he's never seen the campus, that can't be good news here right?

Getting him on campus is the only way ND will have a shot. yes, he sounds like he is growing tired of the recruiting process and says he thinks about ending it. But so far he hasn't.

If he makes that kind of decision (one out of convenience rather than desire) I suspect ND could still get him to visit for the Michigan game and could turn his head.

There's a story on scout, which I believe is still free, talking about the DB from UCLA (Pollard) and Evans that says at the very end he has been invited to the AA game in San Antonio and he plans on decidin around that time.

I hear we're making a strong push for him, both in terms of getting a commitment and getting him on campus.

also, he will now visit for the Purdue game and not Michigan as previously planned. For those who think him pushing back his visit is a bad sign, think again.

His school has a bye-week the week ND plays Purdue. Coming that week will allow him to spend more time at ND than if his team had a game that week.

Sure looks like our best bet as far as WR recruits left w offers. Better chance at a commit than Brown (whom I would have preferred, but little chance IMO)

Hope the Cali connection works on him- Pollard and Wood.

they need to team up to get this kid. someone should just send a picture of trevor, watt, and the bull and say look at the kids who are going to be blocking for the qb. we are gonna have alot of time to run around
