SoCal. I guess I assumed this entire time that ND would take 3 DB's, most likely 2 Safeties and one CB. Does this change that? Do they take 2CB and 2 Safeties? What does this do for Banks?

i think that depends on how things shake out at other positions. since it looks like they won't take a QB, and possibly only one OG or OT, that may allow them to take an extra DB.

It's also tough to say since certain safety prospects like Zeke Motta and Mike Jones could potentially make a move to OLB.

Of the true DBs remaining with ND offers, only one seems highly interested: EJ Banks. A couple others said they will take visits, but talk is cheap. Banks only needs to worry about space if one of the true DBs actually schedules a visit.

so it's possible they could still take only 3-DBs, including a S/OLB kind of guy, or an extra safety in addition to that S/OLB guy.

well that quickly went public. there were rumblings that ND fans were getting some very good news today.

Marlon came away so impressed by his visit that he decided to withdraw his UCLA verbal, which had been "soft" for a while, and today advised he intends to verbal to ND.

good day indeed. welcome aboard Marlon.

Awesome move. LETS GO IRISHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now is this a soft verbal or a strong Verbal?

I would say solid, I don't think Charlie deals well with soft verbals. Either you want to come, or you don't.

based on the statements he's making publicly, it sounds VERY solid. these statements are from a recent article on the two recruits that have changed their verbal from UCLA to someone else:

"I have to make the right decision overall for my whole college (experience). I've been in California my whole life. I don't really like California, to tell you the truth. I've been wanting to get away from California. It's not that I don't like it, but it's time for a change. I've lived here my whole life. I want to travel."

Pollard visited Notre Dame last month and will major in pre-med. Pollard wants to be a surgeon, he'll just study in the Midwest now.

"It was just the feeling I got when I got on campus, the connection I made with people there,'' Pollard said. "It's the prestige and the balance of academics and athletics. There's nothing close to it that I've seen. I don't know if it was hard, but it was the right decision for me. I had to go where my heart was.''

Pollard's mom, Rachael, said she wanted to make sure people knew that there wasn't anything UCLA did to change her son's mind.

"We want to start off every interview we do by saying UCLA has done nothing wrong,'' Rachael said. "They've done everything right. It's a great program and a great staff. Marlon had a special connection with Coach Walker. This has not been easy to let down anyone from the Bruin family or fans. The last 24-48 hours we've had a significant amount of phone calls and there's been a lot of emotion. But the decision is final. It's not going to change.''

Second football recruit drops UCLA - LA Daily News

after the trip, his mom also said she would relocate to south bend if it helped him. i believe now that he commited she said she is going to temporarily relocate while he's at school.

Man I really like this kids attitude. It really sounds like he cares more about school than football, and he wants to be a surgeon He seems like a class act. I'm glad to have as a part of the ND family.

i think he probably would have majored in pre-med at UCLA too. they do have good undergrad and graduate medical programs.

in the end other things made him feel more comfortable at ND.

ucla does have an excelent pre med program. but he said he just felt something special when he came onto our campus. that is wonderful to hear from these kids. when they want to be apart of something special and not just be a individual.

After reading several articles on him over the last 3 days on his commitment, I am really happy he is irish. He reminds me of both Cierre Wood and Alex Bullard when they did the interviews after commiting. They are all sounding like just great charactor kids/young men. Congradulations to their families and the couching staff for finding and successfully recruiting such high quality people, who can also play some ball!

I hadn't heard of any rumors here, but glad to here the Pollard family quenched the flames. It is a shame they had to deal with these rumors though. They sound like a stand-up, honest family that is fully commited to ND.

Saw over on DomerDomain that there is a rumor that Pollard could possibly be de-committing from ND and re-committing to UCLA. Obviously just a rumor, but the poster usually has good info....just throwing this one out there

Was the poster highly placed?

I'm sorry. That was my last highly placed comment. I swear...

if pollard jumps ship then fine, let him go. he has to do what he thinks is best and i'm sure he's looking at UCLA and seeing more opportunity for playing time. we need however many recruits on board that want to come play for this university and want to be all in. i realize it's a tough decision for kids to make but if a young man isn't fully committed i'd rather see him move on.
