Although Pollard did receive an offer from ND back at the end of May, he was already a verbal commit to UCLA at that time. He was actually the first verbal for the 2009 class for UCLA.

But ever since he verballed, he has publicly said he wants to visit many schools, causing the recruiting services to list him as a soft verbal, whatever that means.

So the fact that he was on campus today is significant.

He verballed to them last year sometime which is not binding. He wants to look around at a few other schools to make sure that UCLA is the place for him. It sounds promising for ND.

Yes. But a verbal commitment is not binding, even if it is a "solid" verbal. The modifiers "soft" or "solid" are terms the recruiting site give the recruits.

But until the player signs a letter of intent, there is no penalty for changing the school you commit to.

well that quickly went public. there were rumblings that ND fans were getting some very good news today.

Marlon came away so impressed by his visit that he decided to withdraw his UCLA verbal, which had been "soft" for a while, and today advised he intends to verbal to ND.

well he will be playing football at notre dame not trying out for the olympics. i doubt corwin brown and co. would've offered if they felt he is slow. marlon had a really bad camp earlier this summer but has solid upside and good height

clock times dont usually worry me too much. if he can play football then im not too worried. if he wasnt able to play they wouldnt offer, and game speed is totally different than clock speed.
