wow you quote one city and think its all over. Tell me dude, what crowds do college soccer teams draw. MLS has how many per year?
you soccer bots are pathetic
Well that one metro area is around 8 million so yeah...this is the one global sport that EVERYONE in other countries play as one of the primary sports in a country. This has been discussed in various articles and such but one of the issues, is the sports culture here in the US. Traditionally its been baseball, football, basketball...most countries its soccer and thats it...

That is one of the issues here is the lack of resources dedicated to making it affordable...my folks are immigrants from...Poland..shocking...
When i played over 40 years ago in the Chicago area, it was primarily ethnic teams (Polish, German, Lithuanian, Serbs, Croatians, Argentinians, Assyrians, etc). We didnt pay anything per my dad as all the businesses supported the teams.

Nowadays, its true pay to play and a boom in youth clubs all over the US...give it another 20 years and soccer will get to 2 most likely...

Youth soccer is indeed huge. The (very affordable) youth league where I live outside Boston has 2,000 kids who play every Saturday. It's wild. High school and club soccer around here are pretty robust as well. More kids today play soccer than anything else and I don't think it's all that close.

Then those kids all go home and watch the Sox, Celtics and Patriots. If they watch soccer, it's EPL or La Liga. Maybe they go to a Revs game once or twice a season, but the number of people who seriously follow MLS in most markets is pretty small. The national team gets a little buzz at times but MLS has no media presence. I'm not even clear how I'd watch an MLS game on TV. Apple TV?

Maybe that will change as more Americans grow up playing (and thus appreciating) soccer, but people have been saying that since the 90s. I think we as Americans are rather spoiled in having the best players/leagues in the world in our preferred sports. That's clearly not the case with US soccer and hard to see how it ever will be. And without the marketing muscle and cultural relevance of a major pro sports league behind it, how do we expect soccer will ever attain its "rightful" place as our #2 sport behind "American football?"

It's the US tax. World Cups elsewhere are no where near this level of insane greed. Cities and states are raising transit rates to astronomical numbers. It's just really sad that it would have probably been MUCH cheaper to travel to Qatar for the last WC than to travel the 2 hours to Philly and see Curacao v Ivory Coast.

you are the inmate, so tell me.
I checked with my wife and brother, who are both in the medical fields, and they assure me I never was an inmate, although my wife suggests that sometimes I am crazy...

Again, send me your address...Ill order some nice white jackets with backward-facing locking straps for you...what's your size?

I was right when I said you call players foot fairies!

Oh man, you're either 13 or the saddest millennial still living like its 2002. Probably still think Disturbed is the heaviest band you ever heard.

There is no way he isn’t 60+ years old based on his beliefs and formatting of his posts.
