yeah, not to mention 11 NCs, a coaching staff that plays good freshman, and a team that is going to be near the top once Charlies classes are upperclassmen.(Sam Youngs class=first class) Just seen scout put up an article about this kid, said the next time he visits he has a special delivery for weis. Hopefully that delivery comes in the shape of a verbal committment.

could just be some good ole Jersey pizza

I haven't heard that PSU is a favorite, just that he is interested.

The longer they wait the better it is for ND. So I say nothing is wrong with them. They are smart cookies.

Paterno normally works from home these days. Maybe he didn't get the telegraph about how good Calabrese is.

Joe got the telegram, he was just too busy busy changing his Depends and fixing himself a nice glass of Metamucal(sp?). It's not that he has to work from home, he just can't go long enough without having to change his dirty diapers.

I wonder if Paterno uses his bus pass to go to work at the stadium once a week. The guy is a total joke. He got a win last after he got hurt while watching the game at home. I wonder how many "wins" I have. I watch a lot of college football.

I don't know why a kid would want to play for someone as old as Paterno.

They probably believe that even if he leaves, someone on his staff will take over the reigns, thus the transition to a new coaching staff won't be that difficult. They probably recognize that nearly everything they are being taught goes through his coaches and coordinators.

Yeah, I believe his lack of hands on style and advanced age may just work for him in this regard. He is seen as a figurehead only, and a nice old grandpa type at that. The recruits think the position coach and OC and DCs run the thing and will continue after he finally retires or kicks. JMO

When did this become the Joe Paterno thread? Forget that old man. Especially if he can't get his staff to offer this kid. I know Carlo has said before that he wants to wait a while to commit, so that gives our staff a lot of time to work on him. I'd love to have this young Zach Thomas kind of player.

Alright Alright already...truly dont like Penn St, but do we have to go down to their level. I mean, come on, you gotta give it up to Joe Pa. at the age when most are in nursing homes he is busting his tail running a top college football program. You guys making fun of him being old is just like the PSU fans calling charlie fat. A little immature.

• Verona (N.J.) linebacker Carlo Calabrese picked up a Terps offer recently, but according to his father, Carlo Calabrese Sr., his son has a lengthy list of schools on his list.

“I’d say the top six or so are Rutgers, Notre Dame, Penn State, Florida Virginia and Boston College,” he said. “There are a lot of RU alumni and everyone around here wants him to play for the Garden State. Of course, Notre Dame is a special scholarship and Charlie Weis likes him a lot. Penn State is high on his wish list and the Gators are a unique opportunity. It’s a very special to play in the SEC. Finally Coach Groh likes him a lot and Boston College is up there too.”

Since that article was from march 15, I wonder if there are any updates on his recruitment.
