Is this a typo?
I was responding to his question.

If BYU wins, you best believe our only option at making it is Alabama losing by (10+) or the Simpson injury scenario that I laid out.
Sorry if not clear.

Obviously, if BYU wins things are looking dire.

Gotcha...I thought you meant our only path was BYU needs to win, and I needed to know what you meant...lol

A 3 score win by Georgia would be extremely unlikely.

There's no incentive for them to pour it on since it would likely have zero impact on their seed.

There is an incentive to protect a fellow conference member.

Georgia would start going with even more conservative play calling if they were up two scores.
I don't think Kirby Smart gives two fucks about protecting Alabama and if he could pound Bama into the ground he would. Kirby is an alum and has to probably still deal with questions as to why he can't get over the hump against Bama.

Now, I don't think the game will be a blowout because I don't think UGA is that much better than Bama and Kirby does have some sort of mental block against them.

I feel like the dumbest talking points are where people think the committee is fair and impartial and don’t have an agenda that is different from getting the best teams in the playoff.
Of course they’re impartial! Didn’t you see them leaving their hats at the door? And they snuffed out any opportunity of financial gain by making Ivan Manziel recuse himself from any discussion of ND. Lest his extremely niche book about a post WWII coach starts flying off the shelves

As I said, there is no incentive to win by 3 scores from a seeding perspective since it would likely have zero impact on where they end up.

There is an obvious incentive to win. I never insinuated that they don't. I simply said there's no incentive to "pour it on" if they are up.

Put a dime on Bama last night, I think it goes to 3 before kick. Kirby absolutely knows the narrative, and KDB is already 2-0 so the whole Saban thing isn't working as an excuse anymore. UGA and Kirby need this W heading into the playoffs, if they stumble again....I could see it pouring over into their round one game...even if it's a supposed gimmie with JMU

Even if they beat Bama, UGA does not want to have to potentially see Bama for a third time this season and Bama making the playoffs leaves that as a possibility. One incentive for UGA to "pour it on" would be try and deliver a killshot to Bama and knock them out. Just because we all think Alabama is safe doesn't mean Kirby agrees with that.

Plus, as Kingbish said, it's a monkey on Kirby's back and a close win is still a win, but a dominating win sends a statement.

It's been a long week.
The best ND team of my lifetime may be left out of playing for a title so teams like JMU, North Texas, Tulane and Duke or Virginia can get a participation trophy.

I need Sunday to just get here.
My bad.

Everything I see, read or hear about tells me that Kirby would absolutely love to ruin Bama's season...as they have his a few times. Even if it's just for that Tua to Slim Reaper play in the Natty.....Will he onside kick to start the 4th up 17......YA...MAYBE

Didn't really consider this option. I appreciate your perspectives as it does seem logical.

Look how passionate we are about ND and 99.9% of us never wore the gold helmet and probably 85% never played football. Kirby not only played with that G on his helmet, he played at an incredibly high level for them. Kirby wants to smack Bama and win the SEC in dominating fashion....That I'd bet my life on.

And I know this is where I lose some of you, but I can't think of another coach I'd want some help from to make the playoffs not named Freeman.

I just think in a competitive game against a good team, you score as much as you can while fitting it within your strategy to win. UGA winning by three scores is completely possible and something they might do, but their strategy will likely shift to more ball & clock control once they have an established lead. Bama will be desperately trying to keep the score close, too. Think IU in the playoff last year.

In summary, a three score win is possible, but the strategic circumstances make it less likely than it would be if they were playing in week 3

I'm not sure it was that bad, I could have swear I saw -400 or -350 but to your point....Anything can happen, but losing your star QB is a huge wildcard.
Probably the only way that ‘Bama is out this year is if Simpson is hurt to the point it’s obvious that he’s out for the playoffs.

There’s no way the ACC/B12/G5 will be ok with losing automatic bids. We just think they’re dumb because ND isn’t eligible to earn one. But independence comes with tradeoffs

Personally, I don't think anyone should give a rat's ass how the G5 and New Mountain West feels. There are really only 2 main conferences with the ACC still struggling to figure out if it wants to get serious or not. Everyone else is 'whatever' to me. Auto-bids are stupid.

You should require a non conference P4 win to be eligible for the CFP.

Guess who doesn’t have one? Duke, North Texas, James Madison, INDIANA, 2024 Boise State, Ole Miss, Virginia

Tulane actually does.

Love how much ESPN is putting ND on... not a bad sign at all IMO...
Someone else posted a tweet, but it's so obvious how different ND people come across in these segments. Sark and Cristobal crying like babies and Marcus, Love, and Price coming across as humble and saying all of the right things. I'm sure Pete looks the same in a few minutes

What % would you put on it? I'd bet that out of every 10 posters 2 max played organized football 9th grade and up.
This football for sure...
