I don't think he was suggesting that they miss out on the playoffs, just that their ranking should drop. Which it should.
Oh yea for sure.. I mentioned that in an earlier post too. But not to the point where they could be left out by conference championship games.. so it’s really just a seeding matter imo.

I just hope one more year of underformance from the SEC in the playoff starts to put some cracks in the narrative about how incredible their conference is. OU, OM and Bama are all middling teams this year, and hopefully people start to understand this isn't the SEC of even 3 or 4 years ago
Exactly!

Bama losing to UGA or beating UGA doesn't appear to have any impact on ND. It really does look like it's all about BYU, again...just calling it how I see it. But what do I know...
BYU losing is probably necessary for us to get in. And if Bama loses to UGA and drops out, then that means both ND and Miami can get in.
Basically, there are four teams (ND, Miami, OU, Bama) for three spots. If BYU wins that means four teams for two spots. I think that one of Bama and OU should get in, and that both Miami and ND should get in if BYU loses. But I guess that isn't likely based on the odds.

While I am nervous… Texas Tech destroyed BYU when they played. BYU had no ability to move the football whatsoever. I don’t see any way that changes in the rematch, so we are PROBABLY going to be fine. But I still don’t like it

Because if anyone on this board thinks Bama at +950 to miss the playoffs was a solid play....I'd say they never really gambled in their life.

I took an emotional hedge and bet ND +1100 to miss two weeks ago. Was that also a bad play? The futures market is only going off of past behavior and talking head rhetoric, things can change quickly

And no matter how much Miami complains, they're fucked. Just as they should be.

Just calling out that the committee choosing to fault Oklahoma for their miserable performance against LSU and rank:

8 Notre Dame
9 Alabama
10 Oklahoma

would not only assure both ND/Bama, but it would give the committee more buffer by keeping space between ND/Miami providing another example (Alabama/Oklahoma) where H2H was considered but not the only thing considered.

It’d be nice, but I wouldn’t expect this.
Thats what they should do. Honestly, anyone with half a football brain can see Oklahoma is not on par with the rest of the top 10.

It was a great play, because you essentially got BYU (ML +410) for +1100

PS...I hope you lose..haha

Hard to tell. Vandy’s best win is against a Tennessee team who has zero wins against a P4 team with a wining record
Ya, can't argue that... I just thing Pavia would make the playoffs more fun than OU horrible ass offense.

To what extent do you punish these kids though?

The FSU debacle should have shut the door on this.

You can’t kick these kids out of the playoffs bc Kiffin left.
A hill I'll die on, Norman Rockwell painting meme and all, is that the committee made the correct decision in 2023. That FSU team was a paper tiger even with their QB and once he got knocked out it was a no brainer. I don't think the committee this year will drop OM all the way out and with a 12 team playoff maybe that's a little too harsh, but they should be like the 10 seed or something. They're not the same team at all without Kiffin and half their coaches.

Heather Dinich.. basically mouth piece for committee.. says we are in barring BYU chaos.. so that makes me feel a lot better
I like Dinich and think she has her finger on the pulse, but she's not infallible. She had Bama over us two weeks ago. Hopefully we can be pleasantly surprised again.

I will also die on that hill.

The same extent that they are going to punish ND, Bama, Vandy, Miami, or whomever else kids that aren't going to get in because the committee doesn't think they are deserving.

Get the 10 best teams in (since 2 spots are reserved for shitty team). Ole Miss may no longer be in that group since a big reason they are where they're at, is now in Baton Rogue with his fa mu lee.

Its hard to envision a scenario with BYU winning, Bama losing, and ND being the one left out.
Ya, I agree.

I don't want to jinx anything, but staying on the odds train...It's highly unlikely BYU wins, their isn't an NFL game on Sunday with longer odds. Not the 2-10 Raiders against the 10-2 Broncos, not the 2-10 Saints against the Bucs or the 3-9 Cardinals against the 9-3 Rams.....All those bums have a better shot at winning than BYU. I'm not really too worried about ND and the playoffs.

I'm growing tired of everything being viewed through the gambling lens, but this is very good perspective.

I wouldn't say they're "middling." They legitimately are probably top 15 teams. I can't think of more than a few that I'd say are objectively better than them. Agreed on the last part.

If only it was that easy, but I'm afraid it's not. A lot of factors coming into play down the stretch here.
That’s just not true.. Name the factors?

Big 10 game doesnt matter..

ACC game doesn’t matter..

SEC game can help but ultimately doesn’t matter..

Tell me how ND doesn’t make it with a BYU loss?

Do you think Miami jumps them tonight?
