The way some people are writing, it makes it seem like the chances for Golden are just based on hope.

I read ISD, they make it sound more like ND is in a great spot to land him. So not sure where this narrative that he's closer to a pipe dream came from.

I don’t think Golden and Vallejo fit the same need.

Anything higher than a top 5-8 class coming off a championship appearance would be a disappointment and to
Have any shot at getting that we need both Golden and O’Brien.

This is one that as soon as he announced his commitment date I thought it would be Michigan. The kid legitimately seemed to hate being recruited. Announced a commitment date 6 weeks after being offered by his Top 2 and before visiting ND. Didn’t take an OV to his Top 2 (will this weekend to Michigan). Quotes always seemed like visits to places were a chore. Just never felt like a commitment feels.

Very peculiar to commit without any visits to your top choices.

By multiple accounts, both of them are projected to play 3T.

I think they both probably fit there eventually but Vallejo is a pure 3T that will only get bigger. Golden has some SDE versatility, I believe he thinks he wants to play there some still. Closer to Mills, that will be a DT if he comes to ND? Probably, eventually but I don’t think he’s the same player as Vallejo.

Hola is going to be Nose. Vallejo is a 3 tech on base downs who could play nose on pass rush downs. Golden is better suited for 3t long term. But could be a de here and there. With the news of the vyper being dead, you can actually see why they are pursuing the DEs they are/have committed. Blade was less of a fit. Golden isn't a great fit but you can take him because of the versatility

He visited, he didn’t take an OV.
I meant with an OV, especially since he was scheduled to visit both, but he didn't seem to care much for the process. He could be a late flip candidate.

Irish Illustrated and Hit N Hustle both said the family was concerned that academics may be too hard for him. We can use this to laugh at Michigan, right?

Sure sounds like scUM got in his head. Good strategy I suppose but man could that backfire for them. What kind competitor wants to be told they are too dumb to handle going to class

Kid probably felt overwhelmed. It’s a shame he didn’t take his OV with all the other recruits and commits. Doesn’t sound like his unofficial moved the needle much for him. Hopefully they land Golden.
