I got my info this past weekend from the GUG. Will was dropping off a female friend who goes to Holy Cross College across the street when he got pulled over.

That's all the info. I can dish out right now.

As for RPN's situation, he was already a 5th year senior at the time. I do, however, see that Yeatman will most likely miss this lax season and spring practices. He'll most likely get some pretrial diversion program and be back with the team for fall camp.

But you never know with the administration. It's a case-by-case situation. So let's keep our fingers crossed that he will be back in an Irish uniform soon! Reply

4ever, I totally agree, talking from exp. Have seen this before. In light of the situation, not knowing IN law regarding this type of situation, I would think that, if a 1st time offense, participation in an ARD program and probation would expunge any record. This coupled with team suspensions, would be enough to deter future actions of this nature, provided Will does not have a deeper "drinking" (if that is what it was) issues.

I think, at times, though very wrong, the punishment may be more extreme than the infraction, and trust me I am not making lite of the situation and think that DWI is a very serious issue, but I have seen where making an example of someone goes too far. College kids, no matter where they go, do stupid stuff at some point.

And to Will, take the consequences of your actions, learn the hard lesson, and bust your hump to show that you know you did something legally and morally wrong and move on. Don't let it happen again. Next time, think before you have a "good" time.

I heard ND Security arrested him. Jeez! When did THOSE guys get to be real cops?

Driving drunk and failing a breathalyzer are NOT the same thing to me.

In NJ the legal limit is .080 and anyone who thinks they haven’t driven or been in a car with someone in the .082 to .078 blood alcohol range is kidding them self. I have sympathy for people who get caught in a bad situation and believe they deserve leniency.

Driving drunk with high blood alcohol level, driving recklessly, or causing an accident deserves to be punished harshly, even on the first offence.

Yeatman is a disgusting lacrosse player. One of the top players in the country already, without him this year, their team wont be NEARLY as good.

South Bend Tribune: Yeatman update

Suspended tight end Will Yeatman faces a Feb. 25 court date on charges of criminal recklessness and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, both misdemeanors. The charges stem from a Jan. 28 arrest in which the 19-year-old Yeatman was pulled over after driving a car on a pedestrian sidewalk on the ND campus at night without headlights on. According to court documents, Yeatman's blood-alcohol level was .11. The legal limit in Indiana is .08.

Weis, hamstrung by student privacy laws, could only offer, "I hope he'll be back with our team this season."
