that "72% graduation rate based on numbers released by the NCAA" is a little deceiving; that is the GSR rate, which manipulates the actual numbers.
A year ago, the NCAA developed the GSR (Graduation Success Rate) that takes into account scholarship athlete transfers to other schools. So long as the student athlete leaves in good standing, they don't count against the total.
IMO, that's crap. If you give scholarships to student athletes that don't really want to be at your school, or leave during their junior year to play professional sports, that should count against you. The purpose of colleges and universities is to get an education, not to showcase one's athletic skills.
If someone is good enough and goes on to play professional sports, good for them. If they want to leave early, that's their choice. But if the school is recruiting athletes that think college is nothing more than the minor leagues, they (the school) should be penalized.
