Looking at the schedule, it BETTER be 8-4 or better. This year has to be gotten over, and quickly. By 2009, this team will suddenly be one of the MOST experienced squads in college football, you know? Young will be a senior, and a four year starter. Guys like Clausen, Hughes, Aldridge, Allen, Tate, and so forth will be THIRD year starters. This super class coming in will be sophomores, an MANY should be lettermen. 2008 should look very much like a run-up to a title run.....or Charlie Weis just isn;t what he was cracked up to be.

Y'all know I drink the kool-aid. There is only 1 team on our schedule that concerns me, and that is the Condoms. I will wait 7 months or so to make my 13-0 prediction, however, I don't know how any loss other than scUM or SC would be considered acceptable to anyone. And I think we'd all agree that 3 straight years losing to both would not cut it either.

I have the up faith that The Mad Scientist is gonna turn this thing around. Claussen is gonna be improved, the defense is gonna be more aggressive and the offensive line will play a big part next year. If that translate into 10 wins I don't know. But I see us winning a bowl game next year. It might be the The Kentucky Fried Chicken Bowl, but it will be a improvement. The juggernaut we waiting on will not be here util 2009.

What about the MSU Spartans? The way they always play the Irish and after ND is coming off a 3-9 campaign, plus the game is AT East Lansing. To me, this has to go at least as a "toss up". I wouldn't be shocked to see the Irish lose that one (hopefully not though).
Personally, I think that the MSU game will be tougher for the Irish than the scUM game, though I feel somewhat uneasy about both games.

im holding out hope for 8 wins and a bowl victory. my biggest concern is the defensive front seven, mainly the ends and inside linebackers. fortunately we have some very talented young guys at these positions, and hopefully they can progress enough in the offseason to be a force come next season.

This team should be significantly improved in '08, but remember we are still young and not all that used to winning. I very much hope for a 13-0 season, but after the pain of this year I won't be making predictions that I know will be unfair to expect from our boys. Young teams tend to have a let down game here and there and to be honest, it would probably be better for that to happen this year so that they can expierence those kinds of situations since none of us expect a national championship this year, but it sure could prepare them for '09 and give them that chip on their shoulders that they need to grab that NC in '09.

good breakdown Jones Man... the game that scares me right now is UNC... It'll be a "ND should win easy" game and believe me... it won't be that easy... I'd say that's a toss up as of now
