Proof Of Why Urban Meyer is a Terrible Person and Coach

Someone over in the 4HL just posted this...It's a direct quote from Urban Meyer after the game

"Well, for those guys who just put in their time and didn't make any real contributions, it's time for you to go. It won't be hard to say goodbye to some of those guys who just went through the motions. Now for those kids who actually bought into the program, and who made some sacrifices and contributions -- you know, like Bubba Caldwell....he's a graduate of UF and had a great career -- you'll really miss those guys. But just because you're a senior doesn't mean you have any value."

Someone tell me how this guy could publicly cockslap his players like that who devoted 4 years of their lives to him. He should roast in hell

He may be right in what he said, but how he said it (not to mention the timing) was not what I would want to hear. Bad choice by him to say that, IMO.

good luck playing in that environment omar. you guys see JT getting mauled out there. a 245 lb DT trying to hold ground against that big michigan front was comical. i guess when urban burns enough kids it'll finally come to light but we're not quite there yet i don't think. what a shame.

Yea, Justin got blown off the ball on almost every play, but like you said, playing DT at 245 lbs is quite a task.

For Urban to make that kind of statement publicly is pretty classless. Why even say anything if the guys you have a problem with are leaving. Just move on Urban and work with the guys that you have coming in and returning next year. Talk about a crybaby egomaniac. I'm really happy that he turned down ND, could be the best thing to happen to ND in a while.

This is amazing to me. How can he say stuff like that to players that have given everything to his football team for the last 4 or 5 years. There is no reason for a coach to say that about his players who are leaving.

I'd sure like to see this corroborated.

Can't understand why a HC would come out publically anthose things about his players. Part of being a HC in college is to prepare them for life after football. Doesn't sound like he cares if they have any success after they have used up thier elgebility.

I can see some upperclassmen jealous of the younger guy's success. Tebow and Harvin are young players who been getting major minute since they was freshman. I can see the locker room being split by this. More than likely there are 5th yr player's who he didn't recruit any way. I have no problem with what he said at all. It's not gonna stop recruit from wanting to play in his system.

How about the classless act of the team stomping on the logo and taunting before the game. UF and Urban are totally classless. I am sooooooo glad that ND did not cave on their morals to bring in Urban. Urban chose UF because they would allow the thugs, JUCO's and others. ND said NO we will not compromise our education and institutional process for Urban and his thugs. We are much better off without him. Further, I think we are all seeing that the Urban Offense is getting figured out. Take away Harvin yesterday and UF was in huge trouble. Plus, Hart fumbles away two TD's. This game was not near as close as the score. Urban got thumped by Lloyd and the boyz. Congrats to UM and Lloyd.

Very good point! Sorry to get off topic here, but UM showed how to beat this offense, put the pressure on Tebow and he'll just sling the ball up there to anyone. I have to say, I was not impressed at all in how Mr. Heisman carried himself and his team yesterday, he definitely didn't look like what I imagine a Heisman winner to look like. There must be a curse with that trophy (Bush, Smith, Tebow).

It was really quite humorous to read the thread on the Florida board about this quote. Their initial responses were things like "That's crazy, Urban would never say anything like that" and something about a Nole fan making it up. But when faced with the audio evidence, their responses turned to "I'm glad he said that" and "Good for Urban" blah blah blah.

Amazing how they could be both offended AND happy he said it all in a matter of hours. LOL

The post that has the audio of UM post game remarks on rivals is a Mich. site. I listened toit and I didn't here him make those statements. I might have missed it. He did talk about loseing so many upperclassman from last yr. who went to the pros. Now some posters are saying they heard it on a Gator talk show, haven't seen a link to it so I don't really know if he said it.

The Skunk Bears winning never make's me happy.

Well 99.9% of the time I don't either. But I live in the heart of SEC country so I was tickled to death to see a SEC school get beat by a big 10 school even if it was the skunkbears doing the winning. I get tired of hearing everyone down here say that if you don't play in the SEC you don't play anybody. Missouri beat Arkansas and Michigan beat Florida. Way to go guys. Maybe by some act of God OSU will beat LSU and I'll have plenty of fuel against the SEC.

I HEAR YA! Nothing like living in SEC country to make you long for some good ole Big Ten obnoxiousness.

Of course, now the SEC song is that Georgia should be the National Champion. They dropped Florida like a hot potato and I think are very nervous about LSU right now. I should start youtubing watching football games with SEC fans next season for IE :)

Yeah they are freaking crazy! I don't know how many times I've heard these exact words come out of an SEC fans mouth "If you don't play in the SEC, you don't play anybody" It gets old very quickly.

By the way ND=NC, you may want to change your user title...

Watching that game was like being offered a choice of maggots or worms to go with vomit sauce....I was queasy the whole time because I felt dirty hoping to see a football equivalent of a turn 4 pile-up at Indy...

If ever a game could have been decided by a score of UM 0, UF 0, Comet-hitting-stadium 1, that one there would have been pretty near the top of my list...

There was a link to it on the gatorbait board, but it was pretty bad quality. It was in a radio interview post game, but not the post game conference. He basically did say what was prinited, but that quote isn't quite exact. Close though.

The funny thing on the gatorbait.com thread was at first the gator fans were denying he said it. They were banning anyone who said it was true, calling them flamers. Then a nole fan puts a link to the interview on, and all the sudden gator fan is saying they respect Meyer for speaking the truth. That he should have called out the players. It was quite the interesting metamorphosis of a thread, IMO.

I would rather lose every single game instead of having Urban coach Notre Dame. He's a bitch plain and simple and I hope omar saw his future team get blown out (not score wise) by a mediocre Michigan team. And Justin Troutatooo tooo or whatever his name was was a 4th string DE at best in that game. Good luck Omar. Urban may have sounded nice one on one but just wait till ya get to the swamp.

Amen to that. Living here has made me very biased against the SEC.:meditate:

...can't imagine why everyone is so up in arms about Urban Meyer...everywhere he's coached his teams have excelled...what he's rumored to have said is nothing compared to some of the things Spurrier and Parcells routinely say...what do you guys want, coachspeak purity or a competitive football program...if you can have both, great, if not, I know which one I'd rather have...

After watching Bill Stewart, new WVU coach, and his press conference I can tell you that is the kind of man you want coaching your kid.

ah, it's in context man, Urban stumps N.D. for the coaching job and goes to UF. then, he (nabs) a couple recruits from us. People just don't like him in general so if they can get some fuel for the fire they will burn it.

I'm halfway through Bruce Feldman's book "Meat Market." A great read for anyone who likes college football and follows recruiting

Feldman describes a few recruits' situations that infer Meyer is a scumbag and a liar. One of them was Ian Williams. Meyer offered Ian in spring of his junior year and Ian gave him a slient verbal. Still wanted to take visits. Called Florida back after his Ole Miss trip in October and said he wanted to be a Gator. They refused him and said they had too many on board already.

I thought it was pretty interesting. I knew he was hated by ND fans but had no idea that the dislike for him was this widely known

I guess I don't see how that is any different then CW's current policy regarding commits.

If you are committed, you aren't visiting other schools. If you visit other schools, our view is that you are not committed and we will not necessarily honor the scholarship. If you are looking, we are looking.

I don't like Meyer for numerous reasons, but I think CW might have done the same thing in this situation.
