yeah at first it was kinda cute seeing the kid there, now it just appears annoying and falls under the "distraction" category in my book...

Charlie has actually lost a lot of weight. He is just a little overweight now. What are the haters gonna say now.

when ND starts winning again they'll start talking weight. they won't be able to take ND success so they'll try to bring charlie down that way.

they'll have nothing left to say. something tells me charlie ain't going to be in that speedo anytime soon though. as long as he wins football games he can look like mangino or neuheisel, it doesn't matter.

Anyone have a link to a photo of 'Rusty' from European Vacation? As you will recall, this was not Anthony Michael Hall, but some other no-name actor thrust into super-stardom.

Do a side-by-side of him and Charlie Jr. Uncanny.

I'm first in line for the Charlie Jr.: The European Tour white blazers.

I hate to be "a stick in the mud", but is it really necessary to rip Charlie Jr.? If you want to tear into Charlie, I do not see anything wrong with it. It comes with the job, but please let's leave the kid alone. All head coaches give their kids "little perks" in most programs. Until we hear players complaining about him being a distraction, I do not think Charlie Jr. should be "in play" for any verbal assaults (even in jest).

I was being 'pretty' sarcastic with that, although squeeze some collagen into that guys cheeks and give him a few pimples...and, voila!

I'm just impressed that Euro-Rusty got posted so quickly. If my computer would let me rep I'd be all over it. Euro-Rusty rules.

"Dad, he's grabbing her tits right there at the table!"

And this is all in good fun...no ire towards little CW. He's a teenager. I had my share of pimple issues at his age, and unfortunately, my weight issues have surfaced a bit later in life.

Oh yeah, I need to get one of those hats that Rusty is wearing. I still dream of my career as a keyboardist for Culture Club or Flock of Seagulls.

Awesome.

So to recap for everyone, IrishAlum's obsessions are ND football, boobs, Arabia, and Rusty from European Vacation.

I reserve the right to edit that list at any time, and it is in no particular order.

Well, let's try this on for size. Charlie Senior just deliverd one of the worst seasons in ND history. Next year, he has bigger things to do on Saturday afternoons than to "bond" with his teen aged son. Junior ought to be in the stands in '08. Would a doctor take HIS son into the surgical theater, so they can "share the experience"? Would a trial lawyer take HIS son into the courtroom for a big trial for the same reason Dad has a serious job of improving ND's performance next year, and his own. Unless Junior has something positive to add to that process, which I doubt, he needs to be elsewhere on Saturday afternoons.

I couldn't hear the game, but I saw a clip during the Rose Bowl of a young man that walks the sidelines of the USC games. I figure if all the USC players support Pete Carrolls son, it's ok for Charlie to have his son on the sidelines too.

it wasn't carrol's son but a handicapped kid that started as a waterboy and pete named him executive asst. to the head coach or something. he certainly doesn't wear a headset!

Charlie Jr your the reason Claussen is a freshman learning the system
Charlie Jr it's your fault that Notre Dame can't tackle.
Charlie Jr it's your fault that Notre Dame can't pass protect.
Charlie Jr it's your fault that almost every team we played made a bowl.
Charlie Jr it's your fault that we learning a new defensive scheme.

Tell your sister and mother they gonna be the blame next year.

I agree with the majority here and leave the kid out of all this. His peers are going to be jealous he can get so up close. Jr wants to be a COACH so why not let him kn ow how it is? This handicapped guy a poster above mentioned, well isn't that a "distraction on the side lines?" Sure you can bring a Jr to a courtroom if he is i n the rows to watch and see. Same for Dr except not in the operating theater. Noting some hospitals have set aside enclosed areas to viewan operation. This whole thing is to attack charlie, his family for "NEWS" by anti's

If you honestly think that Charlie having his son on the sidelines contributed to the terrible season N.D. just had you've got to much time on your hands and sound like Rosie and the conspiracy people.

I don't think Charlie Jr. was responsible for the pathetic season, obviously. The headset thing is a distraction though. If they were actually good, it would've been one thing. I'm all for having him on the sidelines, not involved anymore than watching though.

?

I am befuddled as to why Charlie Jr. act of standing on the sidelines is a topic of concern.
We lost games because we weren't good last year. There are no other excuses.

I cannot see how having his son on the sidelines hurt the attention of CW Sr during the game.
Did he stop and go to the snack bar during the game to get Jr a hot dog or a soda?
Did he take time to point out certain plays for his son to watch closely?
Did he laugh at some of the funny signs they both saw in the stands?
Did he ever look like he was not completely focused on the game going on?
Did he ever look distracted by anything his sone did?

Not to me.

I didn't see any of that either, but Charlie Jr. wearing headsets seems to be a problem. Can you please explain why that is a problem junkhead ?

When the team was 1-9 and seeming poorly coached, the last thing needed is the appearance of a teenage coach! It just didn't seem professional. Like I said, if the team was 10-0 if would be a non-issue.

A coaches son wearing a headset doesn't make him a teenage coach or a coach of any kind.
