AGREED, WELL SAID!!! As much as I like and want Omar to be Irish, one player does not make ND or this class. We will win ac NC with or without Omar. Preferably with but that it is out of our control

I have seen that Omar has a visit set for 1/11/08 to Florida. Cyrus Gray has a visit to Florida the same day.

Two words:

Raeshon McNeil

Even IF Omar is visiting Florida, it doesn't necessarily mean anything. I would prefer that Omar doesn't visit, but even if he does, it may be just that final confirmation that ND is the place for him, just like Raeshon did.

Or it could end up like the hole JT fiasco

JT decommiteed because of the coaching change at the def. coor. position. So unless Corwin is leaving N.D. it is not the same, close to being the same , or even resemble each other except for the fact they would both end up at Fla.

I would have to think that the relationships Omar has established with the rest of the incoming class would have to weigh on any decision to stay or go. I'm not going to sweat it. I think he will be Irish come NSD.

Is Pridemore visiting florida that weekend too? if so, could this be like the whole McCarthy visiting PSU with zordich type deal, where he went solely for his teammate?

Nice observation, Ihatemarkmay. People were nervous for about 7 minnutes when they heard Dmac was visiting PSU but it was just to sit in the stands with his buddy and take in a game with him. Omar could be doing the same with Pridemore. But Dmac didn't have any interaction with PSU coaches, players, or other commits. Omar certainly would if he visited.

Orrrr he could be intrigued by the family atmosphere, BBQs with girls in bikinis, warm and sunny weather, and he could have the Cockwad and Mattison in his ear the entire time about why ND isn't the place for him. Maybe he'll tear up when Meyer tells him he can't commit without meeting Mrs. Meyer first.

Either way I don't like it one bit. I also don't like that the visit is after the AA game when he will be rooming with Braxston. If I were a ND recruit I'd be on Omar like white on rice in the next few weeks.

I guess I see it the other way. I would rather have him hang out with Braxston first so he realizes that there is no need to visit Florida in the first place and he cancels his visit.

Good point, Miller. I didn't think about it that way. I just wish ND would be the last experience Omar had before NSD or making a final decision. He originally visited Michigan but was blown away by ND at the end of his trip. Can any of our coaches visit Omar again before NSD or was last week's visit the final one?

See the big difference if I am not mistaken between Omar and the crap we went thru with Trattou is. Trattou hadn't been offered by Florida yet. Omar has had an offer from the Liar for awhlie. Seems maybe he has been thinking of this visit. I know I read on a couple other boards that when USC offered they still considered Florida the biggest threat. He may feel it is easier to just commit to Florida then to face eveything with ND, ( committing then visiting Florida ) Who knows? I still haven't seen this stuff on Rivals yet, not a subscriber though.

------Florida had already offered him (Trattou) before he committed to us. He got the schollie offer from them days before he committed to ND so he said he didn't have a chance to really consider them at that point because he wanted to get it out of the way before the season.

I think Omar is evaluating where he's at right now. I'm not sure he could say anything definitively. All is not lost, but CW should be looking at Plan B's.

This thread will be the first recruiting thread to reaach 1,000 ever. I say by 1/11/08 it'll topple that mark.

I don't know Knight, the way people are freaking out about this whole situation it could be sooner especially if Omar were to actually speak to someone. I'm gonna put my guess on Jan 4, 2008.

I'm sure you all will enjoy this......this is gonna crank it up another notch.....

Buford defensive lineman Omar Hunter is still set to sign a letter of intent with Notre Dame in February, at least for now.

Rumors are swirling that Hunter, rated as the second-best defensive lineman in the nation by Scout.com, is close to withdrawing his commitment to the Fighting Irish.

Jess Simpson, coach of the Class AA Buford Wolves, partially shot down that speculation earlier today.

“He has not de-committed to Notre Dame,” Simpson said around 1 p.m. “I know that for a fact.

“Now, the kid may begin considering other things. He may take a visit or two and just reevaluate things.”

Prior to committing to the Irish in early June, Hunter had taken visits to Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Southern Cal.

I know this has been talked about a lot, but on other sites they are saying that Omar is taking another visit to florida not might. Has anything been confirmed that he is taking a visit or is it still rumor that he is going there? Sorry if this has been stated

I personally think he's gone for good if he takes the trip. It's too bad because he will probably be a great player and he could see much more early PT at ND, but I just wish these kids wouldn't feed everyone so much crap with this stuff. Don't commit if you're not sure, and then if there's a coaching switch or something else that causes them to look around at least be upfront and honest about it with the coaches. I really hope he doesn't go and that he does come to ND, but if he doesn't it's not the end of the world. Yes it'll be a short term blow, but football was at ND long before any of these recruits and it'll be there long after all of these guys leave.

It looks like he's planning on it, but nothing is set in stone yet.

Hopefully these are just rumors, but if not, screw it. Move on to the next recruit. The fact is that we may lose a couple of these guys. Thats why you just keep loading the wagon. We lost Trattau last year, but we gained Brian Smith. If we lose Hunter, that is just an opportunity for someone else to step in and make an impact.

They're not, he is apparently planning on making the visit. Weather that happens or not who knows.

We need Omar Hunter. Plain and simple. I might take Hunter over Fortson , he is that good. I personally think Hunter could be a starter from day 1. I will be pissed if he decomitts, I mean pissed. He is by far our most important recruit. We have some solid players in newman, cwynar, williams coming in on the d-line but none are the difference maker Hunter can be!
