Last year the Auburn slogan was "fear the thumb" because they won the last four straight and in fact made it five. This year they're starting on the second hand. Soon enough they'll be taking their shoes off.

Although I still hate with a passion Rushville High School after they pulled a Hoosier and upset my high school in the semi-state basketball championship at Hinkle Fieldhouse.That still hurts When I watch Hoosiers, I always feel sorry for the losing team.

Yea these people are delusional. They are a mediocre team in an overrated conference. Just makes sure to go back next year to that same party after we win 10 games, and ask them what they think of ND.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the SEC is an overrated conference. Yeah, it gets more than its fair share of love & respect but they've backed it up.

Take a look at the coaches now working in the SEC West (Alabama's division):

Alabama: Nick Saban
Arkansas: Bobby Petrino
Auburn: Tommy Tuberville
LSU: Les Miles
MSU: Sylvester Croom
Ole Miss: Houston Nutt

IMO, Miles is overrated but LSU's talent continues to bail him out. Croom finally got MSU over the hump so they're competitve & Nutt is mediocre but at Ole Miss they'll take it.

The question is what is going to happen when these teams beat each other up (along w/ the Eastern Division teams) & are left w/ losing records? That's a lot of hot seats.

They have a lot of talent, some good coaches, and are very evenly broken down top to bottom. But they aren't miles ahead of the PAC10, and IMO, are often overrated in the polls. I understand the logic of not wanting to play tough OOC games, but get over yourselves - everyone ('cept independents) plays a tough conference schedule most years. Think MSU plays ND OOC because it's easy to play scUM, OSU, Wiscy, and PSU?

The SEC had 4 good teams this year - LSU, UF, Ark, and UG. The only difference between them and other conferences is that their bottom feeders aren't awful like Stanford, Northwestern, etc.

Iriahdodger just because a conference is willing to go out and overpay for good coaches doesn't mean that it's a great conference. It's more like the Jones keeping up with the Jones. Or whatever you can do we can do better.

My old school was in the same conference of the team that "Hoosiers" was modeled after, Milan. (Pronounced Migh-lahn, go figure.) They always brought up that their school was in "Hoosiers", but that didn't change the fact that they suck at basketball now.
