I was reading the thread about MY Space. It'ssad that it had to be shut down over ignorance. I know this is geared to Notre Dame Footbal. But it's also nice to be able to come on the IE website and hear people opinion on other things in life. There are alot of members who has kids on the site. If there a danger or warning that need to be known this is a great place to post it. The dangers of My Space is one of them problems. So all you ignoranus, please to jacking post because of your ignorance.

P.S. The one with the problem are probably the one's who preying on our kid on MY Space.
Just a thought. :soapbox:

2) OneNYbrother is right, some of are parents, and see things differently than when I was in college
3) It's better than talking about global warming.... :devil_2:

Yea, I hate it that it was shut down. Was not my intention.

Some people value family, football, friends, money, patience, etc. etc. etc. Everyone has differnet values.

Some of my biggest values are family, God, my home, and friends.

I happens to be that Tennesee is my home. SO when someone makes a comment that There is no way on God's green earth that they would raise there children in the south. (directly pointed at Tennessee a place where my son will be raised.) That steps on my values and that pisses me off. That is a spit in my face to the things I hold dear in my life.

We do the same things when trolls come on this board talking smack about N.D. What do we do?? We can their butts and send them on their way. Why?? because we all value N.D. and aren't going to let anyone talk to much smack about our Irish. Unfortunately, I don't have the power of the mods or I would have sent my "personal" troll packing. All I could do was vent how I felt.

Sorry for the incovenience to everyone for being the reason or part of the reason the tread was shut down. I may have let my emotions get the better of me when I read the post so again I apologize.

I read your comments and fully agree. I was also going to add my thoughts the comment about, how poor of an education you get in the South. It really was a slap in the face to anyone who grew up or planned to raise a family in the South more specifically Tennessee.

Ask any black person and they will tell you people are ignorant. I ride a bus every morning in a suit in tie. I'm always one of the first one on the bus. I'm also the last one someone will sit by. Some people has stand instead of sit with me. Someday's it's get me so mad that I want to tear up.

Myspace is fine IMO. That said i dont have one or want one. That part about a southern education was pathetic. Public school education is the same everywhere. Just Private school is better than public

Wow same here. WOW!!!

I had to let a co-worker know that it isn't socially acceptable to call a black man Boy. After he said it the second time. I almost put my fist through his face but I reserved myself and remembered that I am a Christian....

But back to the point what was going on with MySpace?

Disregard. I just read it.

I was really hoping to get some input from other parents on here. I'm the father of four. Two boys and two girls, ages 11-3. Things like MySpace and facebook scare the hell out of me. It seems that as of late they are a trolling ground for pervs and pedophiles. We keep our computer in the family room and monitor their activities VERY closely. After the Army I was a Sheriff's Deputy for four years, and let me tell ya there are some sick bastards out there, just waiting for parents to drop their guard so they can prey on our children.

facebook is alot more secure than myspace. but for parents out there, there's a feature on myspace that makes users know people's last names to add them. so somebody your kids don't know can't add them because they don't know your last name. you should have your kids make the profiles private too. but one thing about myspace is that there are these fake profiles of girls that send you messages. these things are just waiting to give your computer viruses.

Myspace can surely be a hot spot for pedophiles to lurk around and see what they can get into. Some things you can do to make sure that your kids are safe:
1. Make them set their profiles to private.
2. Make them show you all their friends that have been added. If you see one in the list your concerned about, view their profile and make an end decision of whether or not you approve that specific friend.
3. Look at the pictures they have posted of themselves (your kids) and make sure you approve of them as well.

Just some pretty easy things to do to keep up with what they are doing.

I would also say that facebook is a little safer place than myspace.

I visit a medium security prison that happens to have the most sex offenders in the state. From my small perspective, a lot of the pedophiles & rapists are educated folks. Some have flat out told me that their problems arose w/ their addiction to porn.

The thing w/ porn addiction is that the person starts out harmlessly w/ soft-core stuff. When that's not enuf, it continues to escalate to hard-core & then violent porn. It continues to escalate for the addict until they reach a fork in the road. After they've maxed out their urges via adult porn there's two directions they go: children or animals.

Understand, I'm not condemning or judging those who look at porn. I've admired my share of beautiful women & I am & always will be a sinner. I just think the bad guys have much more access to our precious children & I dread the day that my two children get interested in social internet sites.
