Virginia Tech football lore brims with inspiring tales - perhaps none more inspiring than Kit Utz. "Kit was Rudy before there was Rudy," said Utz's fellow Thomas Jefferson High graduate Charlie Shiflett. Shiflett was referring to the film about under-skilled and sized Rudy Ruettiger who - in goose-bump fashion - made the Notre Dame football squad as a walk-on.

yeah he was Rudy before there was Rudy....

except nobody knew who he was, there wan't a movie made about him, his team never won a national championship or had any Heisman winners and he wasn't really very good.

But other than those things, he was just like Rudy.
