I know its early, but who is on your want list for 2009?

Personally, I like Morgan Newton. I know thats getting greedy at QB. But if USC can do it, why not us?

Thats not being greedy at all ND needs QB's 2 transfers and Sharpley will be graduating. Sure ND has 2 real good ones for years to come but the need for a couple of them in '09.

Well I'm greedy so Barkley and Newton at QB since ND is going to only have 2 on the roster after next season.

Bryce Brown or Cierre Wood at RB.

Manti Te'o and Devon Kennard at LB.

Dorian Bell regardless of position but I think he would make a killer SS.

John Simon anywhere on the DL but in the 3-4 from what I've seen he would be a DE.

I'd say Barkley but just because it would be a real shot across the bow of Poodle-land. If we were to get him (and we won't) it would deny USuCk their first choice in QB and leave Mustain as their best option for a few years.

My real wish is just that we keep the overall talent level of this years class up, and manage to get so many high character kids that are committed to the class coming in.

I also really like Manti Te'o. I think hes is a phenom, and will do well wherever he goes.
So my top three would have to be Newton, Te'o, Simon. If we could get Barkley, that'd be great, but Newton runs somewhere in the 4.3's.

Seriously, I want ND to stock pile as many guys like Armando and Golden Tate as they can...the team continues to lack a gamebreaker and the more potential ones around the more likely to find a Percy Harvin, Noel Devine or Jeremy Maclin we are....

It's too early for me to even know any of the prospects for 09. I probably will barely even follow the 2009 recruiting cycle because those kids won't hit the field until friggen 09 and they'll only be Fr. That's 2 years from now and I just couldn't possibly care about kids making zero impact as Fr. 2 years from now. Other than that I hope we get whatever we need.

Newton over Barkley? Not saying I'm disagreeing but please explain your reasoning here. I agree though his athleticism is nuts.

It's because his athleticism is just off the charts. Whomever is brought in a QB in 09 isn't going to take a meaningful snap in a game for three or four years. I think Newton could be used other places besides QB until it is his turn. He could help ND in a lot of ways, IMHO.

Couple of guys I like right now

WR Marlon Brown-Big time 5 star prospect that everyone will be going after, hes tall and runs around a 4.45. I really want this kid and think we have a good shot, I hear academics is important to him which bolds well for us and we're already in his top 4 Hoops star gaining football interest - NCAA Football - Yahoo! Sports. This kid is a special player.

MLB Peter Miller-6-3 230 ran a 4.64 40 and a 4.54 shuttle at the national underclassmen combine. would be a perfect MLB in our 3-4.

OG Zak Tait-Best guard in the nation from what I hear, I saw his film and he excels at pulling and almost every block is a pan cake. Harrison Smith is a former team mate of his so maybe that will help us with Zak.

Casey Pachall-I want him more then any other QB in 09 including Barkley. Hes tall, has a rocket arms, and is fast! Hes a play maker.

SS-Gerald Hodges-This kids gonna blow up soon and I hope that we get in to the mix soon. Big, fast, and versatile, he can play several positions but would be best suited at SS.

OLB Sam Montgomery- Honestly don't know much about him but when you see a guy 6-4 220 pounds that runs a 4.44 and has a 36 inch vertical I say take a chance.

Beau Blankenship, Peter White, Kyle Kriegel, Chas Vasser, and Dallas Lee are others that I like.

When I saw "who is on your 09 want list?" I thought... we'll Miss March is off to a good start... but that's just me.

Manti Te'O is the BEST defensive player in the 2009 class, hands down... Kennard is second but Te'O is better.

So I would love to get Te'O... But he apparently will take his mission no matter where he goes, which means we would probably see him redshirt and then do the mission and then come back... He would then still have 4 more years of ellibility... With that said, I really doubt we get him. He would start as a true freshman wherever he went if it wasn't for the mission... He is that good.

The only problem is I'm not sure where he'd play in a 3-4... WE'll have to see if he gets any bigger...

For second place, in terms of simply the player I want the most without factoring in need, I'd say Kennard... He is as quick off the edge as anyone I've seen in the time I've followed recruiting...

But when factoring in need, I would say Xavier Nixon. He is a big time player and would be that "true" left tackle that has been so ellusive the past few years...
