You have to be kidding me about Rutgers playing the 3rd best team in the MAC

You have to remember when the last Bowl contract was made. It was right after VaTech, Miami, and BC left to join the ACC, plus given the strength of the Big 12 the Gator Bowl would rather take the 4th team from there than the 2nd Big East team which would have been UConn. If ND could have had a decent year that's where they would've ended up.

yeah i guess i understand what your saying, and its not like rutgers had a year like they were expecting, I would just think they would play a better team than the 3rd best in the MAC,

not to be disrespect full to Ball St but they don't have a chance. Unless Rutgers just doesn't care about the game

I find it funny that the people that are worried about a playoff expanding to be too big aren't cpomplainign about how big the bowl system has become. 50+% of Div 1-a teams go bowling.

I have no interest in watching two 6-6 teams square off.

While this is true, the issue the total of number of games until some is the winner. With just 8 teams that's still 3 games, which seems like a lot at least to me. Any more would be FAR too many. I think 8 team might be the best/only way to implement it, maybe they could incorporate the conference championship games as in the first round games too. While teams without conferences championships just send their champion against one of the other candidates.

I don't know if something like that would work, I just made it up on the spot. :)
