Who do you think will be the best college football RB next year? Their will probably be as much talent at the RB position next as their has ever been. I personally think CJ Spiller is the best player in college football.

Jammal Charles and Steve Slaton should be right up there if they stay for their Sr. years, and Ray Rice will probably be in the conversation too. Someone at USC will probably step up and wouldn't be suprised to see someone from ND in the conversation if the OL gets it together.

Right now I'd probably say Slaton, or Wells.

He has actually seen some time this year which is pretty impressive considering the depth at DB and the amount of time he has played DB at the college level (He was all state in high school at DB). Depending on whether or not Lambert comes back next year I would think he should be in the nickel and dime packages at least next year. If lambert comes back I see our CB's as:

1)Lambert (I seem to be a bigger fan than most)
2)Walls
3)McNeil
4)Gray
5)Prince

Chris Wells - OSU
Jonathan Stewart - Oregon
Ray Rice - Rutgers
Ian Johnson - Boise St.
Joe McKnight - USC
Felix Jones - Arkansas

I didn't bother listing McFadden b/c he's probably the first pick in the draft. I imagine others on my list could leave early too. Most likely Felix Jones & Jonathan Stewart.

Wells will probably get the most pre-season Heisman pub.

I voted Chris Wells. I hate hearing Muffberger say Beanie a million times. I don't like BM and his joy of that nickname bugs me.

This thread assumes McFadden leaves for the NFL I guess.

I think our running game is going to be great but its going to be running back by commit. I don't feel any of our RBs are going to have monster numbers but as a group they could be one of the best back fields in college football

Agreed, but "The Committee" may well be the most productive collective running back in college in 2008-2009, IF Charlie works his offense around to capitalize on this bunch. He should, and I hope he does.

Is it just me or is Slaton starting to form a habit of not showing up in big games?

i saw him today too. be honest, you hadn't heard of him before today either, right?

how about lesean mccoy of pitt? wow he has some nifty moves.

I had only heard about him a week or two ago, and that's because he didn't make the finalists for the Doak Walker award. What a joke, it's similar to Trevor Laws being left out.

Wait, Kevin Smith or McCoy. I can understand McCoy because he is a true freshman.

UCF's Kevin Smith

BTW, McCoy's basically a redshirt Freshman. He spent a year in Military Prep School.

I guess i can understand since they play in CUSA, but if i was one of the people that give out the award i would make him a finalist. against any competetion lets alone D1 football that is a difficult feat averaging about 200 yards a game

Yeah, that WR from Rice was a finalist last year.

On a side note I really like UCF's new helmets.

I def. Agree with ya on that Gip, he dissapears in big games. It just goes 2 show ya, speed isn't everything...Anyways Best RB next season, lets see, well McFadden will prolly go pro so I'm gonna go with...Chris Wells of Ohio State. He doesn't get that much press but I love the way that kid runs. He reminds me of a quicker Eddie George.
