Their is a poster on Rivals main board with a signature that has a pic of Omar titled thats on bad, bad man. Omar is hopefully going to end up in South Bend because he is going to be a monster.

I'm not, after this. Steve Filer did the same thing. I'll have to go find his quote about it, it's pretty funny.

There's also another story that most don't know about Omar. A few weeks ago a poster from II's premium board went to Omar's game with his wife and two little children all decked out in ND gear and they were holding a big poster that said go Omar. Well since the game was a blowout Omar was on the sideline most of the game and the poster caught his attention. He sent someone up to talk to them and to see if they would like to meet him. Oh they went down and met him after the game and they talked about ND a little bit and they all took a group picture where Omar was helping hold the little girl, then he signed their poster and added a big Go Irish! to the end of his signature. I have seen the pictures too so I know it's a legit story.

Saturday's performance against Navy's running shows that the Irish NEED the likes of Omar!!!

Umm...I'm pretty sure a lot more than Omar playing for ND needs to happen for the Irish to win 9 games.

An O line that can dominate
Running backs who pick up blitzes
Receivers who can get open
Better LB play
A defense that knows how to get off the field on 3rd down

Oh come on, guys. Don't you know that four-star recruits fix EVERYTHING? Especially right in their first year, when they're coming off the bench.

You guys don't understand.... if Omar is Irish, ND wins 9 games.... if Omar is Irish, no one else decommits... if Omar is Irish, our Defense will be able to plug up the run and we have a dominate secondary for some 3 and outs... if Omar is Irish, people will not question the director that this program is heading... if Omar is Irish, our O-line will have to practice in the spring and summer and fall against a very talented big young man...

HENCE....if Omar is Irish, ND wins 9 games next year.

I'd like to agree with that theory, but the o line practiced against arguably the best defensive lineman in the nation, and hasn't gotten any better.

Omar will be on the BENCH next year. Ian Williams will be starting at nose guard, with Kuntz moving over to Laws's spot. Not much of a drop-off, but also not a difference of 6-8 wins.

I'm as excited as anyone - well, maybe not quite ANYONE - about Omar getting to ND, and I think he'll be REALLY good once he gets a year or two under his belt. But we've got to keep our heads straight about what a bunch of new 17- and 18-yr-olds are able to do. They're just kids. Big, strong, fast, talented kids, to be sure, but kids nonetheless. Omar will be a difference-maker, just not in '08.

I think Omar will be starting by mid season . Mainly at that age, kids need to add weight and strength. He already has that, he also has good technique, very good technique by the way. Weis said that he would consider moving the guys with great flexibility to different spots. Omar is pretty fast.

If/when Omar gets here, we will never be scored upon again. Well, not as much anyway.

What has pat Kuntz or Justin Brown done this year to make you think they should automatically start next year? Laws is getting all the attention and those two plsu stephenson jr are doing nothing. It is like Abiamiri the last year 2 years had no one opposite of him to do anything when he got all the attention.

Ian williams is playing better than both in my opinion right now as a true frosh. I think ND will have major issues if both Kuntz and brown are starting next year. Williams is good enough to get a ton of PT this year and Hunter is better than williams right now.

Kuntz has been playing his butt off this year. I would love more d-linemen with motors like his. He also has knocked down about 8 passes this year.

I honestly can't wait till fall camp. We will be really deep at every position on defense. There will be some serious battles.

Pat Kuntz has been EXCELLENT this year; the only time Williams has gotten significant playing time is when Pat has been injured. Next year Kuntz won't be playing out of position, and he won't be 30 lbs. short of where he needs to be. I really expect him to have a very solid season - not as good as Laws's All-American year this year, but very good nonetheless.

I didn't say Justin Brown would be starting - my guess is that a bulked-up John Ryan is the first-string RDE, with Neal and Brian Smith at the OLBs. Hunter will be backing up Williams at the nose guard position, and Ethan Johnson will be on the depth chart at LDE. But hey, what do I know.

The problem - aside from the fact that starting true freshmen along the DL seems unwise to me - is that Williams and Hunter play, or at least were recruited to play, the same position in the 3-4. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this, but at least that was my understanding ...

Other then pass break ups Kuntz has done very little. Yes he plays extremely hard, but he just isn't that talented. You want your nose tackle to take up two O-linemen. He hasn't done that at all, which is why the O-line gets to our LB's. I'm actually fine with Kuntz starting over brown but not over Hunter.

I would like to see

Hunter
Williams
Kuntz

Weis has given a lot of praise to Nwanko so who knows there. Maybe he could take an end and bring Hunter to NT with Williams back up.

The thing is Hunter is every bit as athletic as Justin Brown and weighs 40lbs more so why wouldn't you want hunter starting even though he's a natural NT.

I have watched film and I think Omar is a natural Slot receiver/Assistant Head Coach/Athletic Director, so we should be good to go!

Here are Kuntz stats and you are still think he isn't any good.
43 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 9 pass break ups

Well, that and outpacing everyone except Laws, the safeties, and the ILBs in total tackles. No small toast.

I agree with you that he shouldn't be starting at NT, which is why I said he'd be taking over for Laws. That Kuntz has done so well at a position where he's MASSIVELY undersized for the job he's being asked to do suggests to me that he'll do very well next year when he's no longer out of position and he has a big ol' nose tackle to stop the run.

I would like to see

Hunter
Williams
Kuntz

Again, I don't think Justin Brown will start: I think it'll be Kuntz at LDE and John Ryan, since he's more of a pass-rusher, at RDE. If they recruited Hunter as a nose tackle and that's the position they want to groom him for, then that's where he should play, IMO.

As to the point about his being "every bit as athletic ... and weigh[ing] 40 lbs more": he'll also be a TRUE FRESHMAN. And true freshmen are (almost) NEVER as strong, or skilled, as upperclassmen and other guys with considerable college-level strength training, practice, and game experience under their belts, not to mention a year or two to become a man and not just a big, strong kid. Maybe Omar will challenge for playing time by the end of the year. Hell, I think that's quite likely. But at this point there's enough talent along the defensive line that they won't need to throw first-year players out there right off the bat.
