I am sitting in the ATL airport waiting on a friend and bored. can't read another thread about Charlie, Navy or the O-line.

I have met
-Cris Collinsworth. He asked me out in Tampa when he was there thinking about joining the USFL or whatever it was called.

-Ozzie Smith. I taught in a Catholic school in St. Louis in the 80s. was extremely poor so I bartended on the weekends at the bar and he used to come in a lot. Very nice guy.

-Dolph Lundgren (the big blonde russian bad guy in Rocky). During the ATL Olympics, I drove the car for the heads of the Olympic Pentathahon committee. He was a guest as a former Olympian in that event. he was a little strange

-Pete Rose. My dad was a minor league baseball coach and he came to town one summer for a promotion. LOVED him.

-Johnny Unitas. forgot about him. After moving to Tampa in the 80s, I worked on the weekends at a wings sports bar establishment which shall not be named and lots of athletes would come in. He was in all the time with whoever it was that owned the Bucs then,

Who have you met?

Haha, I'm half tempted to change your user title to Chris Collinsworth's girlfriend.

Brad Friedel - 2004(??) US World Cup goalkeeper and current goalkeeper for Blackburn Rovers; he and his wife honeymooned in the same place my wife and I did and the four of us ended up having dinner together with other couples. Nice guy.

Edit: it was 2002 in Korea.(the world cup, not the honeymoon :eek:grin: )

Brad Friedel poster was on my son's wall for years.

Also, I met Jimmy the Greek at the Super Bowl in Tampa, the one during the first Gulf War. I got to go to the game free by working as an usher and he accidently ran the golf cart he was driving right into me. Several vodkas in to the game I guess

Are you thinking of the one who did the Snickers commercials? I think that was Tab Ramos. He was a midfielder if I recall though.

Other notables from that period I can remember are Claudio Reyna, (but he was a midfielder), Brian Quinn, or Tony Meola (goalkeeper)

Billy White Shoes Johnson's kid went to my school. I never met him but I yelled at his kid on the playground a lot.

Chipper Jone's kid goes to my school now. He walks in the lunchroom to eat with his kid and the kids go wild.

Steve Mcnair at Vanderbilt when he was having his pre op for his back surgery. He was a nice guy. I talked to him a little but didn't want to bother him much.

Chris Zorich at the G.T. game. Awsome guy. Super down to earth.

god, ive always wanted to meet Ozzie. Mom's entire side is from St. Louis, and we go to his restaurant "Ozzie's Place" everyitime we go out there. never seen him there, always praying.

Digger Phelps and Dick Vitale at Parisi's Restaurant BC weekend
Randy Johnson (ok this was at a baseball game getting a ball signed so it probably doesn't count, but im gonna count it anyways...it was in STL and he was on the D'Backs at the time)
Ron Powlus is not really a sports celeb..but hes a ND passing one. Met him in 2002 at the ND Mich game.
Should i go with the Lou Holtz, Ara Parseghian, and CW at the Blue Gold game? I guess they'd be celebs along with Zibby, just an ND celeb
Clint Mathis,, some of the U.S mens team, and Kristine Lilly if anyone here knows US soccer
Alan Shearer, if anyone here knows English soccer in the late 90's/early 2000's. His parents live right around the corner from my grandma's house.
Grant Wistrom when he was on the Rams

my dad did a charity bike ride for a while, and he's met Willie Mays(im gonna get crap thrown at me i probably spelt Willie that wrong), Tom Brady and Drew Bledsoe, David Givens, and my mom met Joe Montana in 77 or 76 but she somehow "lost" his autograph. I'm guessing she burnt it along with her ND rejection letter she also burnt.

Dad's also met Paul Gascgoine, one of the most hilarious autobiographies ive ever read. Wikipedia or google him, and his book "Gaza". If you hate soccer, it doesnt matter. He pretty much ruined his life after at one time buying 7 rolls royce's for his family - Pretty amusing

Now SOCCER i know. Giggsie is my favorite player, besides the entire Italian Soccer team.

My son's team went to Chile for a tournament and his coach, a former GK coach for WC Chile, introduced the team and parents to Jose Luis Chilavert.

and the bar I worked at was right across from Ozzie's restaurant in West Port Plaza. is that where you go or did he open another one.

Raghib "Rocket" Ismail. I loaded groceries into his car and talked to him for a few. It was right after he signed with the Argonauts of the CFL.

my grandparents live 5 minutes from Westport...they just got Pujols 5 restaurant there which is good. You should go back, they've also got a cold stone creamery now too. I love Giggs, cant stand some of the new players tho.(i.e cristiano ronaldo). Did you follow English back in the '80s/'90's? Gascgoine is a name you would've heard in the 1990 world cup...got the infamous yellow card in the world cup semi's.

Maldini fan? Used to love him, but hes pretty old now...not sure if hes retired from A.C MIilan

Gianluigi Buffon, Luca Toni, Francesco Totti, etc. we are Italian so watching that team play was hysterical, hearing all our old great uncle names on that team.

I loved St. Louis. I was there the year they played Milwaukee in the World Series. The game we went to was the one where it monsooned. Someone had a sign that said "Cover your beer or it will taste like that stuff they brew in Milwaukee"

E.T. Willie MGee, Keith Hernandez, Lonnie Smith. I loved when Ozzie would do that front flip running out to the infield. You never knew when he would do it.

Got to meet Steve Garvey my childhood hero.

Harvey Martin of the Dallas Cowboys

Kevin McReynolds of the Padres/Mets/Royals

Paul Konerko when he was playing AA ball in the Dodgers organization

Willie Roaf OL w/ Saints & Chiefs

Saw Jerry Rice helping his family check in at SF Airport. I had no idea it was him 'till he hopped in his Beamer. He was so damn slim & was wearing a ball cap & shades, so I missed an opportunity to meet him. Dude must have zero body fat.

Saw Lee Corso in the Orlando airport but he was yapping to his buddy while walking through the tarmac, so he was oblivious to everyone. that guy probably never shuts up.
