My congratulations to Navy.

As we are disappointed being 1-8 and the class that had the streak broken since Roger Staubach, I have to say again congratulations for a wonderful well fought game. Three overtimes a real nail biter and I am sure you understand our disappointment in your joy.

Your class will go down in history for this game and it is surely to be repeated on TV for many years to come.

By now the word Navy beat Notre Dame in three overtimes 46 to 44 and broke the 43 year streak has been signaled and gone out to the fleets in the Pacific, Atlantic and those near Iraq. I am sure the Commandant of the Navel Academy will issue a day off and general pardon for any of your cadets with problems.

Although as a Notre Dame fan I hate losing, I say Well Done.

Don't they get extra sleep or less pushups? Whatever your reward, congratulations.

yeah...good effort by navy today. IF CW is doing the play calling next year you might even start your own winning streak!

I was in the Navy for eight years, so a small part of me feels good for those guys.

And, I've gotta say, that play after CW's stupid decision not to go for the FG at the end of regulation ... the play where Ram Villa dove over AA and made the sack on Sharpley ... hey, I'm an ND lifer, ya know ... but that may be among the top 10 football plays I've seen in my life. If it wasn't for the fact that it happened against ND, it could easily be in the top three.

Congrats Middies.

Why just congratulate Navy, let's give a big hand to USC, Michigan, MSU, GT, PSU, and all the others who have made our season a living hell.

Woohoo!

I come from a military family, so I have much respect for the academies........but on a day like this, you can forget about me feeling gracious!

I am trying to type something, but my fingers/thoughts keep getting in the way. We ran a 36 kickout with the game on the line? with a runing back who barely saw the field all day. What is going on?????

WHAT A GAME!!!!!
I just got home from the game.....what a nail biter. I was in the north end zone, 44 rows up.......I still don't undertand WHY WHY WHY Charlie didn't go for the field goal with 21 seconds left in regulation!!!! The wind was LIGHT and coming from the SW and it would have been kicked from the East hash mark.....hmmmmmm
I know one thing, when Charlie was leaving the field, those left in attendance were BOOING HIM BIGTIME!!!!!
Congrats go to Navy for a one HELL of a great, hard faught game!!!!! Our playes faught HARD and to the last seconds of the game!!! I would have to say this is the most complete game I've seen out of our team this year......LOL...we were out coahed...again...lol IMAAAAGINE THAT!!!
Go Irish!

I DVR'd the game, and like everyone but UCLA.....I will delete it shortly, without watching the game a second time.

Delete everything but that diving sack that OLB from Navy made on ND's last O play in regulation. That may have been one of the most clutch, incredible defensive plays I've ever seen ... even if it was against ND.

Yeah, props to the Middies. They showed up ready to play (and coach). We didn't.

Before the game I said I was hoping for someway both teams could win, and perhaps we could make someone like Michigan State or USC the loser somehow. But alas, it was not to be. I'm glad for our boys in the military, and I'm sure this has lifted their spirits, but it has sank my own like a stone. Our boys could desperately use a win, and Navy already has several. But I guess with this season, I'm not surprised. Only sad.

Go Navy, Beat Army.
Go Irish, Beat Anyone? (sigh)

Pretty sure I heard boos when the band started playing the 1812 overture in the post-game?

As I have said on this board before. It is time for that song to die. I think Charlie has the integrity to go tell Ken Dye himself.

"Hey, Ken. Let's put that song to rest, I sure don't deserve it right now. But how about Springsteen's 'Born to Run?'"

Yep there was quite a bit of booing going on, thought not by yours truly. I thought it was kindof pointless since CW had already left the field. Still, I can remember everyone saying "Lou" during the overture during the last year of Bob Davie, holding up "L's". The song won't go away, but it's entirely possible it could turn into more of a protest than an expression of confidence. It has in the past.

Was the 1812 overture utilized pre-Lou? At this point, I think it is entirely valid to retire that song out of respect for his tenure, and come up with a new 3rd quarter tradition. How about enough of us learn the words to 'Down the Line' and we come up with some new clever hand gestures?

If nothing else, give the Overture the same fate as the clog. It gets played in the post-game, ONLY after a win.

Let's go Irish. Make those kilted bastards dance.
