I wouldn't be too quick to judge without knowing all the info.

GG, you COMPLETELY missed my point! Did you read the last line: "maybe we should let him sort this out?" I was trying to say that while I want to ride him for not being at practice, I understand that he's a person, too. C'mon!

Well then I don't get it. If he wasn't going to get on the field, what's the big deal what position he played?

I think the implication is that maybe some position coaches are rubbing these guys the wrong way.

According to the story johnnd05 posted, it doesn't look like personal/family issues.

I know, but BGI posted a similar story after talking to Carufel's coach and they seemed to have a somewhat different interpretation. One if which includes family stuff combined with fitting in/homesick stuff.

I've heard the same and one coach in piticular seems to keep coming up, but I'd rather not say more than that.

I know that BGI recently said that they wouldn't be suprised if we see some changes at the end of the year.

Coach Latina isn't it?

I'm not going to confirm or deny anyone because not only will that stir even more stuff up, but it will most likely start even more rumors. I think that we should just all try to be patient and let it all play out and then take it from there.

Interesting. What is it about this year that is causing so many wobblers? Or is it present every year and I just haven't paid attention much?

"He just doesn't know if he fit at Notre Dame like he thought he would."

That sounds "personal" to me, though obviously not family-related. But it's not clearly an indictment of the staff or anything.

I have never seen a year like this. Not just everything going on at ND, college football in general this is certainly a year for the dramatic.

It's a large mix of things. The teams has had a lot of loses, and most of these kids are far away from home. There is also a luck lack of leadership from the upperclassmen and many people are getting passed on the depth chart by younger players. Plus there has been a change in scheme right after a huge 28 person recruiting class was brought in. I'm guessing that some of those guys are wondering how how they fit iinto the new system. Finally there is something else there that I can't quite put my finger on, maybe it has to do with the coaching, maybe it doesn't. I don't know.

Perhaps this is beyond where these 18, 19, 20, 21-yr olds are, but I've had professors, bosses, co-workers that rubbed me the wrong way/I didn't like/ didn't get along with, but didn't go running.

Very true, and I don't think it beyond many kids that age. Especially ones that heve been treated like stars most of their life and have always been one of the best players on any team they were part of.

I wish him the best of luck at whatever he decides, and if something is wrong then I hope everything gets better.

FYI, that Minnesota Scout site has spun the story even more making it sound like a done deal, but they don't seem to have any info other than the Trib article posted in this thread, and then they took that and ran with it. So don't get all worked up if you see it.

for what its worth, my son's soccer team had a player leave suddenly mid season. all kinds of rumors about not fitting with the coaches or he was just a big wuss, etc. everyone on staff was mum about it. turned out the kid's dad had been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer and died six weeks later. The kid wanted it kept private and the coaches did just that.

So have we gotten anymore news on this?

The collateral damage from this could end up being pretty costly...

That's old news, and it's not based on anything more than what we knew two days ago (which is when it was written, actually). They're just trying to make themselves sound as if they know more than they do.

my bad, just saw it today.
