Just watched the replay of today's College Football Live:

Among Lou's "highlights":

-Calls Matt Ryan 'Pat Ryan'
-Calls Corwin Brown 'Cory Brown'
-Says ASU has an excellent chance to win the Pac-10, in part due to the QB play of Sam Keller
-Pretty sure he said Wake Forest QB Riley Skinner has 39 interceptions on the season. Someone check the stats on that please.

At least he picked ND to win. His mind isn't completely gone.

Yes, sometimes he can be a boner. Brought back many memories of screaming at the top of my lungs over some of his stubborn play-calling. But at least he brought us a Championship.

Holtz is so funny. I saw the end of college football live when he mentioned cory brown, and i was like, who? oh, oh, corwin! But he did pick us to win, and him and reese mad mark may feel like a jackass. it was a good last 4 minutes.

and by the way, Sam Keller is the ASU qb who transfered and now plays for Nebraska. The move partly cost koetter his job, being as that Rudy Carpenter has been atrocious. ASU wins because they have great runningbacks.

(my opinion though)

Lou Holtz is the same guy who brought us the "University of Navy" and the "University of Purdue." We all know what he means. He just has a unique way of speaking, that's all.

Lou Holtz is americas greatest commentator, and he's my hero......before the UCLA game when he said he couln't find any reason to pick the Irish, but he didn't care he was anyway it once again showed me how cool he is, despite the lisp, and potential dementia.

I'll tell you what, I'll take Lou and his dementia any day over those other clowns ESPN employs.

His commentary during the Pitt/Navy game was classic as well and he was ragging on May all night long...it was great.

He is the only reason I would ever watch that show. He is the ying to fat boys yang. What about his newspaper magic on gameday last week...classic. He is a legend and will always be the man.

He came to Florida recently(July) and stopped by the base. I was lucky enough to sit and talk to him for about a half hour and believe me the mind is still fully functional. It may not always come out of his mouth correctly but, this old dog still has some life in him.

Understood about Sam Keller. That's why it's so funny. I kept waiting for Robert Smith to get in a jab, but he lacks the intelligence to come up with anything witty.

Lou was our coach while I was in school, my senior year was his last. So he'll always have a special place in my heart. He's very entertaining, but I have to be quasi-critical when I give Dan Fouts the same grief last week for being a bumbling incompetent on a microphone.

Carpenter might have struggled last year but he's been significantly better than Keller this season.

Right, I was explaining to the other people who might not know Nebraska quarterback Sam Keller used to play for the sun devils. Thats why is hilarious, I wish I would have caught that part.

I dont think lou is losing it... it's difficult to be on the air and articulate your thoughts in a coherent manner. If you don't believe that the camera can cause stage fright, check this out:
<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IkSSoIVUpfI"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IkSSoIVUpfI" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

[oh i see, it was a solemn occasion, which is why only one person is laughing. I would have had to pretend I was crying to hide the laughter.]

Lou is obviously a beloved icon at ND, and reading through this post really reminded me of how the Cubs nation views Ron Santo. For those of you who don't know, Santo's the Cubs color analyst on the radio--a former player--and it seems like each year he descends deeper and deeper into senility (could it have something to do with the Cubs' playoff record...?). Anyone, no matter how crazy and incoherent he becomes, everyone just smiles and shakes their head. He's a Cub, no matter what, just like Lou will always be a Domer.

Lou's my favorite coach of all time and it's great that he's on ESPN and contributing. That being said, his "Pep Talks" segments need to go. They are brutal!

I especially like that your wife is just "day to day," even with cracked ribs. Man, she must be a trooper!
