Gerell was on tonight's power hour, here's some notes from the interview:
He said that the main reason he reopened his recruitment was his decision to play WR. I'm guessing the rest of it had to do with Arizona's on the field struggles. He also mentioned that he already has over 1,200 combined offensive yards between passing rushing, and recieving, but the back-up QB just went down so he'll most likely be playing QB in the future. During the 15 min. call when recieved his ND offer which took place in the middle of one of his practices he talked to Ianello, Oliver, and Weis and he mentioned that he was very excited by the offer.
As I've said before in this thread, Gerell's mom is from Gary, Indiana and he was been born there but he hasn't ever been to South Bend, but he still has a lot of family in Gary. Another good ND connection would be that his high school coach graduated from Notre Dame during the Holtz era, and he has alot of things to say to about how great ND is, and has encouraged him to take a serious look at ND.
When Gerell was at last's year's Jr. AAA Combine he met Dayne Crist, and they still talk to each other every week or every other week, the last time was last week on Dayne's birthday so they haven't talked since he got an offer. I know I have heard it before, and it was mentioned again tonight that both Dayne, and Jeff Bamhour both thought he was one of, if not the best reciever at last year's AAA Jr. combine. He has also been selected to play in this year's AAA game and he may announce there.
As far as visits go he will most likely take all five visits and he would like to do it before the end of December. He will most likely be at ND for either the Air Force, or Duke game.
He said his top determining factors will be the overall level of the program, education, the grad rates, and his comfort level at the school. He also went on to say he doesn't usually have much problem fitting in.
