Props to Brandon Walker for hitting that 48yd FG. When was the last time we hit one anywhere CLOSE to 50yd?
yeah he has a good leg, i may not be as nervous now whenever we line up for a FG

The most important thing is not who the win was against, or how badly UCLA played (it was pretty awful) but that we finally got a win, and the boys got some confidence. There's still a TON to be worked on, but it's always easier to work on stuff after a win than a loss. Obvious we could harp on negatives or mitigating factors all night, but in the end, we won. And it feels pretty damn good.
anyome have details? i couldn't watch it. i need a recap of personal observations...
How well did the OL block?
Far be it from me to withhold my opinion.
Trevor Laws won the game for Notre Dame. He set the tone for the game with his muscle play and athletic ability. He made tackles, rushed the qb, blocked passes. The D-line followed his lead. Maurice Crum was all over the field. Tackles and interceptions. One of the most impressive efforts from a linebacker I have seen in years, anywhere in the country. Other linebackers were inspired by his lead. Zibby played smart football. Punter played an almost brilliant game. Defense overall played like they wanted to win a national championship TODAY. They still have no concept of leverage and getting lower than those they are tryin to tackle or shed a block from. They still don't know how to tackle. Special teams look like they have been coached. They looked inspired. Offense: Backs are super, but nowhere to go. Travis is still a man among boys, and I think CW simply does not know how to coach him. Expect great things from his in the pros. Line has improved. Clausen should be benched for a couple of years and maybe accept a backup role to Sharply and whoever wins next year's competition. He is going nowhere fast. Has a bad throwing action. He was the worst athlete on the field. Even UCLA.s walkon gained confidence and looked better than he did as game progressed. CW's play calling is still too geared to his Pro football experience. He forgets that college students have to go to class, get homesick, etc. 1st and goal from 15 inches out and he rolls out Clausen. 2nd and 8 after the sack. Total stupidity. He needs to fire himself from the offense.
Irish win. Defense and attitude won game.
