Evan Sharpley earned the right to get a shot at starting next week. I know that JC is supposed to be the future of ND, but Evan looks much better commanding the team. He has better pocket awareness and makes better passing decisions. We need this team to show some success this year to give these kids some confidence, Evan shows command of offense. Further, we need to show incoming recruits that the ND offense still works. Further, Dayne needs to see that Charlie will play the guy who moves the O best. Not just sit on the annointed one, JC no matter what happens. Finally, I think it will do Jimmy good to stand on the side and watch the offense operate in a game. I sure seems to have helped Evan's awareness. Go IRISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Evan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree Evan did a great job but I do not know if JC deserves to be benched. He was getting into a good rythm before leaving with the injury and shows a lot more upside then Evan. The way JC was limping around I look for him to be out at least next week...play them both and let them earn it on the field. According to the final stats they were very close 1 INT each and 1 TD each....

I am under the impression that the team turned things around in the second half and Sharpley was the beneficiary of circumstance. Clausen was leading the team down the field too.

Personally, I thought JC looked good today. He got rid of the ball early and was going through his checkdowns better than before. KAMARAPOLICE

I think that clausen should start if he is not hurt. I think he played well also. He is clearly the QB of the future and needs to use this year to learn how to run the offense and progress as the QB.

Clausen should start. There is no reason to make a change unless he's hurt.

Clausen should get the start. He has been improving week to week, why interrupt that now? The commentators were saying that the team was following sharpley better than clausen, I didn't see that. I just think that N.D. was playing there typical one half of football. As long as I can remember, N.D. has always played harder one half than the other. Whether it be the first half or the second half.

I think that we need to stick with Clausen. It may help him knowing how well Sharpley performed behind, as well. We'll see.

For a team like this, consistency is paramount. I just don't see a change being made unless it's because of an injury. I did read this earlier:

Regarding the QB discussion, CW said on his presser after the game that he would have to evaluate the film and see how Clausen feels. He expressed confidence in Sharpely but said the number one evaluation attribute he uses is passing accuracy, and Clausen has been more accurate than Sharpley. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what he thinks after reviewing the film and evaluating Clausen's injury.

I didn't watch the presser, but that certainly sounds like (1) Weis thinks Clausen has earned the job based on performance, (2) Weis doesn't want to change things unnecessarily, and (3) the only thing that concerns him is Clausen's health. Like I said, this seems 100% right to me.

What game are you guys watching. Clausen is holding the ball entirely too long. Quit drinking the Kool-Aid. Jimmy is good, but he is NO WAY the number one freshman in the country as his ranking states. Did anyone watch Benn today. That is a no 1 type player. I have yet to see JC fire the ball the way he is supposed to. His passes look wobbly and soft. Sorry guys, I call um like I see um. JC is getting the benefit of his reputation.

Sheesh ... overreaction, much? I'll let the guy who developed Tom Brady and Brady Quinn decide how good Clausen is.

They both played well today but i think the difference is that JC has outstanding pocket presence where as ES is still a little lost. Every time the backside blitz came JC would instinctly feel it and get out of the pocket. Evan ate it one time and almost fumbled.

Just my observations, but they both played very well.

We Had A. Benn in our hip pocket when the Zooker made him an offer he couldn't refuse. If you recall, Zooker was the top recruiter in Florida when he was there. Actually, Urban Meyer was the beneficiary of those recruits which he won the NC with. Of course, Urban is doing well recruiting but who doesn't once you've won the NC. Hopefully, ND will one day soon be the recipient of all 5 star recruits with the NC in hand!

Sharpley looked good, but still showed why he is the backup.

Honestly though, I rate these guys as:
1A - Clausen
1B - Sharpley

I don't see a #2 player.

Stick with Clausen

Stick with Clausen

The biggest difference between high school and college ball is the game speed. All of the freshman are still adjusting to that. They have it tougher because there is no easy adjustment for them right now. They have been tossed to the lions right away. Weis needs to stick with it right now and let these guys get the speed of the game down. They will get it. I'm not sure it is just going to "click" one game and we are going to hang 40 on some team. I think it will be a slower progression, but it will get there. There is no need to disrupt the learning curve right now.

JC has been sacked from the blindside twice this season. Reading that comes with time, so ES catching it too is just a lack of playing time.

If JC is hurt he should sit. I do think that as the losses pile on ND will start to lose recruits. So it might not be a bad thing to give ES some more playing time if he has command of the game. Kids today live in the "now", not what can happen next year. Need to think about that.

I thought this was Jimmy best game and he seemed to have things going until he got hurt. Which is exactly the reason I would keep him in there. I would rather have Evan come off the bench as he did yesterday and not the other way around. Let us not forget the Jimmy is a freshman and this is his first look at college action, which everyone says is played much faster than HS. If he were to be the backup and Evan got hurt, I think there are to many intangibles for him to have the same success Evan had coming off the bench yesterday. His age, lack of college experience, the pressure on him to be the next "Golden Boy of ND" and the need for a win for this team, might make that a tough tasks for Jimmy or any freshman QB. If he is healthy let Jimmy play and continue his learning experience. Brady's first year(s) weren't great and he turned out to a terrific QB, I think the same thing can be hoped for Jimmy.

Jimmy's in the exact same spot that Brady was in his first year. Look how he turned out. The only way JC will improve is with PT.

Well of course he has, it seemed that our first four opponents had a pow wow in or backfield. The fact is Jimmy has much better pocket presence the Evan. If you don't like it tough, maybe you need to think about that.

I'm sticking with JC for now. ES can come in if he struggles.

Cincinnati has two qb's without controversy. We need to do the same..
Sharpely is #2, and he will enter the game when needed.

I am sorry, but I will not buy the pocket pressence thing. Jimmy is holding the ball too long and then scrambling too much. Evan has learned how to step up and make a throw. Well, I guess we will all wait to see what CW does this coming week.

If Clausen wasn't hurt he would have had 2td's. Second one being Tate blazing down the sideline.

Exactly how can you say that "Clausen is the man" from those numbers? They look the same to me, with Sharpley having a slight edge.
