Has anyone else taken this into consideration?

That possibly the reason why Charlie Weis and Corwin Brown got all of these recruits to commit so early is because they knew it was going to be a rough season. I mean just think, Charlie has seen good teams and he knows what it takes to win. It can't come as a shocker to him that they are playing this poorly, meaning he had to have known that this team just was not ready for the big stage like his previous two teams. Just a thought and I would like to know other people's opinions please.

Interesting thought.

I haven't looked in the recruiting out of fear.

Now that I think about it, if the recruits see all these freshman and sophmores playing early then that should bode well for us. They are getting to see where they may be able to help out immediately and just the fact that there are freshman and sophmores playing. I hope they look at these factors as well.

I have thought that actually... trying to find a sliver lining I considered that Charlie al may have warned our incoming class that this year could be harsh and be ready for some PT next year...

but again, I was reaching for some good news...

Great post and great topic. Its hard but you really gotta think like a coach. From everything I've heard and read, CW and his staff have been relentless in recruiting and it good to hear quotes such as this from today's SBT "It is OK to look ahead," CSTV recruiting analyst Tom Lemming said. "In 2009, with the two classes they have on the field, with the one they're putting together, with the great start they have on juniors, they're going to be the most talented team in America."

Love it

Very interesting point! I think if he was that honest and up front with the recruits then we will not lose too many of the verbals we have so far. Is anyone else worried that our last commitment was all the way back on July 24?

Priorities for me are:
Walker and/or Floyd WR (I like the 6-6 Jonathan Baldwin here too)
Josh Jenkins OG
Chancey Aghayere DE

No, I'm not worried about our last verbal having been that long ago. You're going to be SORELY disappointed, though, if Walker, Jenkins and Aghayere are priorities for you. We're pretty clearly out of the running for each of them, especially the last two - our best hopes on the OL are Trevor Robinson and Kenny Page, and the only d-lineman we're in the running for at all is Datone Jones, who's a UCLA verbal but still may be taking a visit to ND (from the last I heard, anyway).

Anyway, I think Chris Harper would also be a great get at WR, and that we also really ought to get one of the RB's that we're after.
