1-FIRE COACH LATINA! No more, he gets no more chances. We have under achieved on the O-line for several years now, and this year we have the worst line in the nation. Why are schools with inferior O-line talent doing so much better? We have talent but need a good O-line coach to coach them up.

2-Open up the playbook, stop being so conservative. We know that we have a feshmen QB but hes never going to learn how to play QB in college just handing the ball off and throwing short passes. Do you think you are going to be able to do that to USC or Michigan and win? Of course not! Let him take his lumps this year and make his mistakes so that he will be read next year.

3-Start playing more freshmen, the upperclassmen have not been playing like it so give the younger guys a chance. Neal, Smith, Romine, Kamara, Ragones, ect, we need these guys to be ready for next year. This years shot so prepre for next year.

4-Bench Turkovich, Duncan, Wooden, Price, Olsen, and Ryan. Not even 2nd sting, these guys need to be absolutely buried. I'm talking about 4th or 5th string.

5-Make all WR's, RB's, FB's, TE's, and defensive players do some speed drills and drop some unnecessary weight. How many times do we have to say it, we need speed! Not just 2 or 3 fast players but everyone needs to be fast.

I don't know about the rest of your points (all I have seen is the GT and Penn State games, I have been in Bulgaria for the Michigan and Michigan State games), but in regards to #2, opening up the playbook:

It's hard to do anything but run and/or throw short passes, when your offensive line can't protect your quarterback. It doesn't matter that he is a Freshman. He'd be getting sacked on every play that you tried to throw downfield on.

Totally agree. Instead of opening up the playbook, it was a very appropriate response for Weis to dumb it down. That's how we scored our first two offensive TDs of the season. This will enable JC to grow safely--without fearing for his life on every down. He'll still get his share of sacks to toughen him, but he won't feel like he's not wearing a helmet.

People were saying "oh, its trial by fire, look how tough the season starts."

The silver lining is this: look how great the season ends. These guys will get into the groove of things, get stuff rolling, and have a lot of positives to take into the offseason.

I'd rather have them take their lumps against good teams then play like this against army, navy, standford, duke. It doesn't matter the opponent, you have to give them time to become acclimated. Everything should start coming together after USC.

I say FIRE LATINA needs to be done. We need to go after LSU or USC or UF coaching staff and get a new OL Coach, WR Coach, Runningback Coach, DL Coach, LB coach and get Weis a Offensive Coordinator. Time for some changes.

I would agree with looking elsewhere for an O-line coach...anyone who starts Duncan should be canned.

5 things? MAYBE one for five

5 things? MAYBE one for five

I'm sorry, but it's NOT Latina's fault that he has to strt an O line with one senior and, rffectively, four sophomores. Thank Ty Willingham for THAT.

"openning up" means passing more, eh? Well, today, on 8 first downs that ND passed, or tried to, they gained a TOTAL of ONE YARD. Until this YOUNG O line can block, ND needs to be decidedly "run first".

Speed drills are not the issue. Thanks to some hard recruiting by Cheeseburger Charlie, the freshmen and sophs have great team speed. What we do not have, and it effects EVERYTHING else, is a competitve O line.

Benching people is okay, for a while, generally, it amounts to a hissy-fit, though..

The continuing problem for ND is that the O line is too young and inexpeienced. Today's AVERAGE second down situation was second and NINE. Like a batter coming to the plate with the count 0-1. This team needs to start its recovery by concentrating on what it does pretty well, and building from there. Right now, that's runing to its left hand side. As it builds experience and confidence, the rest will come, eventually.

In a lot of ways, this team and Charlie W are all learning together. Weis is learning that, in college football, there can be much bigger gaps in talent and experience than you'l find in pro football, as in when your predecescor left you with the present situation, i.e. half the two-deep chart are freshmen and sophomores. You can bet the farm it ain't like that at USC, LDU etc. This will be a losing year, and NO bowl game. However, IF WEIS CAN HANG ON TO THE 2008 recruits, by 2009, this team will be fearsome.

He would be a scapegoat. We do not have the talent.

For YEARS he was known for the best OL in the SEC. I seriously doubt he became crappy so quickly.

Now why in the hell would they make a lateral move like that coming from some of the most successful programs in the country? Just wondering...

Do you really think someone behind Duncan is better? You do realize the Charlie played a ton of guys at scUM and they all got kicked around right?

What do you expect from the Juniors and up? They are apart of one of the worse recruiting classes in ND history. It just goes to show that Weis can Recruit and the freshman are showing up the older guys.

1) Get Weiss to resign

2) Ask Weiss to give back this year's salary and cancel his contract

3) Hire Nick Saban or Steve Mariucci or Appalacian State head coach

4) Watch while new coach whips team into shape

5) Enjoy watching team win remainder of games
