Maybe its time for CW to send a mesage to the his staff and team by putting latina on notice or firing him. We took a big step backwards today and it is not looking better at all.

its all about our o line. They are terrible. If the oline could give clausen time he could complete almost all of his passes today. Idk about firing latina, but they definitly need to improve.

Sounds like that is what is going to happen from the post game presser. He said that everything is up for grabs and no ones job is safe.

A couple of things need to be addressed here:

1. Is the O Line talented or not? Are they a collective bust?

2. Is it the O line coach (Latina)? It is apprent that he can not right the ship and he has lost the players respect and faith?

I think it is #2 and therefore CW must take corrective measures that stop it immediatly.

Launching the position coach is the first step and it shows CW means buisness. Very critical step. If CW does not take it, it may be he is just as much to blame.

WTF!!!!

If that is what proves to be the problem with the OL, then Weis is already to blame, whether he lets Latina go at this point or not, because if OL coaching is the problem then Latina should have been gone long ago.

I'm sure that many of them are quite talented. Surely a big part of the reason for their dreadful performance is their youth and inexperience; outside of Young and Sullivan I don't think any of them saw much extended action last year. It also takes considerable time and maturity (i.e., the sort of physical development that comes only with age) to build up the strength necessary to play o-line at this level. This isn't an excuse, just a fact.

the o line is the only problem on this team. The defense always looks good in the beginning of games but by the third quarter, because they have been on the field twice as much as the offense, they tire and fad. out skilled positions are very strong but out o line is absolutely awful. if we gave clausen a little bit of time, we mite be able to do something. At this point i think you fire the o line coach, allow charle to make their lives hell for a week or 2 and inform all linemen that no one is safe from now on and week to week, people will have to earn spots in practice through hard work and improvement.

I'd like to think you're right about the source of our problems, though clearly bad penalties, mental mistakes (what the HELL was Sullivan doing with those snaps?!), and coming out downright flat (this week and against GT) have hurt us a lot as well. Plus I do think I saw us miss well more than our share of tackles today, our corners got burned badly at several junctures, and for the first time I was pretty disappointed with our defense on the whole. But to some extent I think that's the product of a blowout: shit just went WRONG today, FAST, and it's easy to get swept away by the tide.

As to your suggestions for improving the o-line: two of the three (making their lives hell, and telling them their jobs aren't safe) are apparently going to happen. Firing a coach midseason is a tough way to go, though the way Weis was talking in his press conference it doesn't seem like that's out of the question. We'll see.

I have felt that he needs time, but wow...just wow.

To be honest, I am more concerned that Turk and Duncan just suck. I think it is time to bench them without a doubt. 3 guys blocking 1 guy??? I KNOW that Latina did not teach them that.

All I got to say is FIRE JOHN LATINA!!!!!!!! Sam Young was the best offensive linemen in the country 2 years ago. He hasn't been the same since high school. He's at the wrong position put him at LT not RT. Prime example. The most sacks in 3 games. FIRE JOHN LATINA. Get me somebody who can get his linemen NASTY and block everything that comes there way. Get me a line coach that puts his linemen through boot camp tuff, roadgraders, trenches all those.
