Johnson sound like a grown man. The things he's asked other schools (U$C and scUM) about the number of players in business majors and the players graduation rates shows what kind of guy were getting. Great football talent with the brains to match. This guy is going to be one of my favorites for sure.

Anyone know anything about this?

Anyone know anything about this?

From an article on Ethan's game this weekend:

Lincoln was without star lineman Ethan Johnson, who sat on the sideline in street clothes. Johnson sat out with what a member of the Lincoln program said was a leg injury.
Anyone?

Lincoln's Johnson to under MRI

Lincoln senior defensive tackle Ethan Johnson is scheduled to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging on Tuesday to determine the extent of damage to his knee, which he injured in a Sept. 7 game against Tigard.

"He got cut-blocked and it was all bruised up," Lincoln coach Chad Carlson said. "We don't know if it's ligament damage or what."

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Johnson, who has committed to Notre Dame, did not play in Friday's loss to Southridge.

"He practiced all last week but it just kept getting worse," Carlson said. "The doctor said it would be better if we held him out."

Per the Oregonian, Ethan sat on the sidelines again this weekend. The results of the MRI exam on his knee are unknown (at least to the media).

Great news about the Johnson leg injury!

Great news about the Johnson leg injury!

According to B&G Johnson's injury is not as serious as once thought. They didn't mention the exact injury out of respect for Johnson's privacy, but they did say that it wouldn't have any long term impact on his football career following this current season and that he has already been getting better by the week.

All I care is that Omar Hunter, Brandon Newman, Ethan Johnson, Hafis Williams and Sean Cwynar are burying quarterbacks for the IRISH.

Via BGI:

Ethan Johnson (DE/DT): The big man saw his team get off to a 1-2 start, which included Lincoln’s first win of the season on Friday night. He has missed the past two games with a knee injury. According to his coach, Chad Carlson, Johnson had an MRI late last week and results are pending. He is hopeful that the injury is not extremely serious, but he held Johnson out so as to make sure the young man’s future is not put in jeopardy. In his one start, Johnson compiled 7 tackles and a sack.

Ethan missed another game this past weekend, but there is a plus from all of this. If it's possible this injury has made Ethan all the more solid on the Irish because it shows how important an ND education will be for him when he no longer has football as a major part of his life.

Lincoln loses; Johnson out longer:

The Cardinals can't seem to catch a break, as the former state power lost to Wilson 34-28 in both teams' Class 6A Portland Interscholastic League opener.

The loss was compounded by news that senior defensive lineman Ethan Johnson, considered the top recruit in the Northwest, has a strained anterior cruciate ligament and will not return to action for another two or three weeks.

Wilson (3-2) got three touchdowns from PIL rushing leader Trevor Beltz to beat Lincoln (2-3, 0-1). Johnson, who has committed to Notre Dame, has played in one game this season.

:(

A strained ACL - how bad is that? Any long-term worries?

I watched a little bit of Lincoln's game tonight even though Ethan didn't play. Lincoln lost their championship 35-21. From what I've heard Ethan will most likely sit out the rest of the season. I sure it's more precautionary than it damage already caused to his knee. Get well soon Ethan!

does Johnson have a good chance at starting next year? Laws is going and i'm not sure what type of depth ND has at DE. Neal was listed as a DE on rivals but he mostly plays LB. Who else does ND have at DE

Nuss already moved back to OL, and many think that Nwankwo may join him on that side of the ball at the end of the season.

It's also a possibility that Kuntz may shift over to DE too.

Ethan has decided that he won't be playing in the AAA Bowl because of his injury. He was only able to play in one game this year but he was still able to help out the team in other ways, he helped out with the coaching. Johnson has also recently joined the high school swim team. Apparently his family is very into swimming and he also did it to help with his rehab. In four more weeks he'll be entering the next stage of his rehab where he'll be able start sprinting.

He said he isn't able to come to the upcomming football banquet, but he is excited about his upcomming visit with a few of the ND coaches. Corwin Brown and Jappy Oliver will be visiting him on Dec. 4th.

He also could have been an EE but he decided against it as well.

How is his recovery going with his knee?? The swimming will help his recovery as swimming is a good rehab excersize.

It seemed as though they didn't take any chances with it and were very cautious. He should be ready to go for fall camp when it rolls around.

You have to love the fact that he is taking his rehab work so seriously. Joining the swim team will not only help his knee but also his endurance. Just more proof of the quality of young men who will be arriving in South Bend next June.

I applaud his high school coach. His coach was looking at EJ's big picture future. Instead of risking it by having him play this year, the coach held him out. More coaches need to heed his actions.

Just wanted to show EJ some love cuz nothing new has been posted for a while. I get so excited every time I watch his highlights. He just explodes through the line and into the backfield on every play. He is gonna be a beast at ND (as is our whole DL)!!

It would have been nice to see him in San Antonio blowing people up and getting that 5th star.
We love you EJ
