Anyone?Lincoln was without star lineman Ethan Johnson, who sat on the sideline in street clothes. Johnson sat out with what a member of the Lincoln program said was a leg injury.
Ethan Johnson (DE/DT): The big man saw his team get off to a 1-2 start, which included Lincoln’s first win of the season on Friday night. He has missed the past two games with a knee injury. According to his coach, Chad Carlson, Johnson had an MRI late last week and results are pending. He is hopeful that the injury is not extremely serious, but he held Johnson out so as to make sure the young man’s future is not put in jeopardy. In his one start, Johnson compiled 7 tackles and a sack.
Lincoln loses; Johnson out longer:
The Cardinals can't seem to catch a break, as the former state power lost to Wilson 34-28 in both teams' Class 6A Portland Interscholastic League opener.
The loss was compounded by news that senior defensive lineman Ethan Johnson, considered the top recruit in the Northwest, has a strained anterior cruciate ligament and will not return to action for another two or three weeks.
Wilson (3-2) got three touchdowns from PIL rushing leader Trevor Beltz to beat Lincoln (2-3, 0-1). Johnson, who has committed to Notre Dame, has played in one game this season.
hav either nuss or nwanko played this season? Hopefully they can just get a redshirt in and we can have them on the oline in a couple of years.
Ethan has decided that he won't be playing in the AAA Bowl because of his injury. He was only able to play in one game this year but he was still able to help out the team in other ways, he helped out with the coaching. Johnson has also recently joined the high school swim team. Apparently his family is very into swimming and he also did it to help with his rehab. In four more weeks he'll be entering the next stage of his rehab where he'll be able start sprinting.
He said he isn't able to come to the upcomming football banquet, but he is excited about his upcomming visit with a few of the ND coaches. Corwin Brown and Jappy Oliver will be visiting him on Dec. 4th.
He also could have been an EE but he decided against it as well.
You have to love the fact that he is taking his rehab work so seriously. Joining the swim team will not only help his knee but also his endurance. Just more proof of the quality of young men who will be arriving in South Bend next June.
No kidding.....it is very refreshing to see a guy really and truly take his future seriously!!! Out of all of our recruits, I think that EJ gets the big picture the best!!! Man this kid is so awesome!!! One of my favs!!!
