Paul Duncan sucks, plain and simple. Hes gonna get our RB's and QB killed. Please put in Romine.

Do we even HAVE an offense? why dont we just play D and punt it back as soon as we get the ball. If it aint happening on special teams, we aint gonna score. This is just getting stupid. Oline cant block shit, RBs cant find holes, and the WRs cant get open

This is either the worst O line ever or the worst O line coaching ever.

Maybe it's both.

ND should have scored. Jimmy looks like he is the real deal.

After seeing this game it's hard to blame any of the RBs or QBs for the first two games. This O line is so piss poor that we could have Montana or Quinn back there and the results would be no different.

buckle up boys...hope the Navy streak doesn't end! That's a very big IF in my mind, right now.

Even Young had a pretty bad game. From what I can tell, Sullivan is the only OL player playing better than medicore to horrible. Most of that was painful to watch. What can you do?

That was ass ugly. It could be a long year if this continues. The coaches will definitely have to earn their pay this year to turn things around from what has been on display the first two weeks. Here's hoping they earn bonuses!

Jimmy looks good. He feels the rush, He has a presence out there, has a nice arm as well. Makes plays. But the reason why we can't have success on Offensive because Jimmy is getting sacked all the time because WE HAVE NO OFFENSIVE LINE Turkovich and Duncan SUCK SO BAD. We have no receiving core. Please put Sam Young to Left Tackle. We need to give Jimmy some offensive linemen and some recievers. Time to make some changes on the offense. We need to build this team for the next 4 years around Jimmy.
Now for the Defense well......I can't wait til Newman, Hunter, Filer, McDonald, Cwynar, Johnson all those studs come in and start. We suck on the line and linebackers look horrible. this is sad to see us get man handled like this.

My take is this--- Jimmy is gonna be really good, but I agree totally with T Black. ND does not ANYTHING around him... unless we get some WR help NOW Jimmy will never see a big NC type win in his career at ND... AA is a dissapointment for sure... and it's not all the line either... he had plenty of lanes today and hit none of them... let's hope he grows in time at ND

The D grew a lot today, very impressed with them... can't blame them for what happened in the second half, they were on the field all day...

Charlie?... I have been feeling this way since the mid way point of the season last year... GET YOUR TEAM DISCIPLINED!!!! The pentalites the last two years are unexceptalbe... and the play calling, last year as well as now, is quite vanilla...

I have to say, and for a life long die hard it's hard, but Mark May is right, this team may very well go 0-7 out the gate... not because we are that bad, but MSU, GT, Penn St, BC, UCLA, USC all have their best (or one of in USC's case) teams in years... it'll continue to be ugly...

2008 will be another story

Well I definetly thought there was some improvement in this game compared to the last. May have been because PSU didn't blitz near as much as G.T. In two games, we have a combined average of -4 yards rushing. Anyone calling for a new O-line coach at the end of this season? Jimmy looked good, he will continue to improve and with time he will be a very good quarterback for the Irish. Where is Zibby? Other than the Punt return he had. N.D. needs a good win to get jump started this season! Defense played pretty good considering how much time they were on the field.

It's sad to say that Jimmy is the best player on Offense. We need to give him some help big time or the next 4 years are gonna be like we saw.

How about now?? The OL was weak last year, with experienced players. We'll have to wait and see, but do we have to get 6 star (******) players to have a good line??

Okay, I'll say it: I do think you guys are overreacting. That was a tough loss to a very good team, and it would have been a lot closer if not for a handful of big plays and a bunch of shitty penalties. But yeah, the o-line is bad, they couldn't pick up a blitz if it were covered in glue, etc. And yeah, the lack of d-line depth is killing us in the fourth quarter. But those penalties were to some extent the product of our youth, JC is the real deal, the wideouts will get it together, and if we can put together some semblance of a running game then we'll see a pretty good team at some point this year. Of course, any possibility of real progress is predicated on improvement along the o-line, and I'm not sure there's any real reason for hope on that score.

But look: that was a GOOD team, clearly deserving of their ranking, and we shut down their senior QB and fleet of wideouts for the whole game, held their running game in check for three quarters, and put together a decent passing attack despite loads of penalties, an utter absence of a ground game, and our total inability to stop that damn blitz. Those last three things are obviously a big friggin' deal, and I have little sense of how we'll manage to fix the latter two of them. But a lot of you cliff-jumpers need to take a deep breath and look around.

Apparently Latina does think that patty-cake is good enough, I'm not sure if it's good enough for him to keep his job. I believe that the concensus is that, with some sort of O-line, we could have been 8-8, the future does look bright with JC. I think we're just gonna take it in the pooper this year, and look forward to next year.

What a disappointing display of football!!!!!!! If there is a offense that is more pathetic than ND then I havent't seen it! The O-Line is just flat terrible and the backs don't seem to be running very hard. #7 was running for his life! Charlie is "supposed" to be a offensive genius.....well Charlie I find your offense to be very offensive!!!!!!!!!! I don't understand how a major college can be so so bad on offense. Michigan has to be so thankful that they get to play the Irish next week!
I will always cheer for the Irish but I think it's really going to be a long year for us. The way this team is playing 0-8 is a real possibilty

I'm not giving up on my Irish this year. I feel like we will begin to mesh together as a team more an more each game. The Irish will win some games, maybe not as many as we would like them to. We are a very young inexperienced team playing some tough competition. How many freshman played tonight? Clausen, Allen, Tate, Smith, who else? On top of that how many players do we have on the field for their first significant playing time? Sophmores, Juniors, Etc?

What the hell is everyone talking about? The Kuntz and Williams did awesome up front! There were numberous times when the center was pushed into the backfield. It wasn't the lines fault today, they were fatigued! I don't know if LSU's d line could hold up after seeing the field as much as they did. It's also hard to throw the ball when their using a four man rush, and dropping everyone back into coverage.

Absolutely right - the defensive line was frigging brilliant. Laws is a BEAST out there. That said, that we lack any semblance of depth up there KILLS us in the fourth quarter; they were totally running downhill on us.

Your second point is right as well. The lack of any solid running game certainly makes it easy for the defense to either blitz or sit pretty on the pass. A HUGE portion of the blame for this loss goes to the o-line, and much of the rest to penalties. This game was not nearly as bad as it's being made to look; it'll really be a shame if the mood around here reaches the kind of nasty lows it has at certain other places ...
