Best place to sit in ND stadium?

I'm planning on attending the ND-MSU game in a few weeks and I've been watching tickets on Ebay. I've never been to ND so I don't know much about the stadium. All the tickets I've seen are either in the corners or in the endzones. I'd rather have a corner seat but don't want to get stuck behind the MSU band or something. I called the ticket office and they said the visitors usually sit in 14 and 15. I found a few in 15, some in 3, and some in 22-23. Would any of these be better than others for any reason? I'm not really a fan of either team, just going to experience ND football. Thanks.

If you want to experience ND football, I suggest being in a section with ND fans.

Really, there isn't a bad seat in the stadium. If you're in one of the end zones & try to take pictures of action in the far end zone, they won't turn out well, but you'll be able to see just fine.

Personally I think it's more fun to be closer to the student section (Section 3 among your choices). You'll also be closer to the ND band.

I thought about Section 3 but don't want the sun in my eyes the whole time. I was really wanting 22 or 23 but those seats were higher up. Section 15 had seats really close to the field, so those were tempting. I wouldn't mind Section 3, as long as I wasn't starring at the sun the whole time and I could hear the band, since I'd be behind them.

IMO, the only bad seats at Notre Dame Stadium are the low seats (rows 1-10 in the old section of the stadium). If you get a low seat, you have very little depth perception. I would much rather sit higher or even in the new section. Unless you are on the east side of the stadium, you need not worry about the sun. In other words, in section 3 you will not have a problem with the sun.
Of the seats you mentioned, I would go with section 3, 22 or 23. Stay away from the low seats in section 15.

If MSU brings their band they will be located in the South Endzone.

In section 3, row 25, you will hear the ND band just fine.

Given those options I'd go with section 3. I've sat there before and it's pretty good, plus if you relly want to experience ND then that'll be a good pick since you'll be close to the ND band.

I was on a trip for the PSU game last year. We sat in the front row (behind the temp seating. In the end zone away from the student section. The seats were great. ND scored all of its TDs in our end zone. I also got to high five Joe Montana as he was leaving.

IMO the student section is the best but that is because i'm bias. it also costs me over $40,000 a year to sit there but i'm getting one heck of an education.

I sit in section 1 and I like it very well. The seats are in the endzone between The student section and the N.D. band. The students make the game more exciting with all the enthusiasm they have.

Section 1 was sweet location for the PSU and UCLA games last year. However, many of your season ticket holders in that section are of the 'sit down and whisper' variety.

My season tickets are in section 14, and it was a predominantly ND section after the first 10-15 rows. I am in the 40-50 row, and think it is a killer view, with some pretty passionate and knowledgeable ND fans. The visitors appear to have the first 10-15 rows in 14 and 15, and much of the upper corner of the bowl behind us. You will certainly hear plenty of the opposing teams music, but the view of the student section is pretty cool, too.

Long story short, a seat is a seat, so long as you are in the stadium.

living in california right now id say ANYWHERE! you are lucky enough to be in that stadium.... Hopefully in a year and the next couple of years after taht ill see my fair share of home games

Have a great trip out there, it should be fun. There is a lot of stuff on campus that is worth doing and seeing...set aside a couple hours pre-game time.

Yeah I'm hoping to experience it all. Me and some friends are flying from Dallas to Chicago on that Friday. That afternoon we're catching a Cubs game, the next day we're driving to SB for the ND game, then Sunday is Bears vs. Cowboys. Should be one hell of a weekend.

Off topic, but do you guys have a suggestion on how to get from Chicago to SB on Saturday morning? We can either take that train, then get a cab from the aiport, or rent a car from Chicago and just drive.

The train is actually pretty enjoyable if it will get you there early enough. You can also take a bus - I don't remember the name of the service, but it'll take you from the airport drop you off at the gate to ND and isn't too expensive. Neither of those options is all that quick, though. That said: traffic might be pretty bad, so I wouldn't particularly want to drive and deal with parking, either.

Basically, if I were you I'd take the train and then get a cab from the SB airport (where it drops you off) to ND.

Yes, that's right. The major advantage of the bus is that it comes right to the airport so you don't have to deal with subways. But if you don't have lots of baggage, that's really no big deal. I think the bus is more expensive, though, and also takes a bit longer than the train. It makes a bunch of stops in podunk highway towns in Indiana, and you don't get to see as much of the scenery (such as it is) as you do on the train: you go through some cool Michiana countryside, and it's pretty neat to ride the rails down the middle of the street or right behind houses in some of these (admittedly rather run-down) towns like Gary or Michigan City.

To be perfectly frank: I hate that stupid bus. I really like the train. There's my two cents.

That's the thing - I was always too much of a penny pincher to do that, and so I know all about the various creative ways to get to SB from the city. And IMO taking the train is actually pretty enjoyable - plus I imagine that on a game day morning it will be LOADED with ND fans, which should be pretty fun.

Great point, on game day, taking the train is ideal.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm leaning towards the train myself. I'll either rent a car from SB airport and take it to the stadium, or take a cab. Renting a car would be much cheaper, but I don't know the parking situation. I'd kind of like to park on the other side of campus so I can see the entire campus while walking to the stadium.
