Without knowing all the details, I hope BQ isn't holding out trying to get top 10 $$. Fact is, he was drafted later, get to camp, and take that starting job!!! He will more than make up the money on endorsements.

I'm sure it's all about the money, but he should sign and get to camp.

If I were Brady, I'd say pick one...

1) Pay me like the top 10 pick you had me rated as and you know I should have been.

or

2) Pay me like the 22nd pick and I'll sign for 4 years. Then I'll walk to the highest bidder as soon as possible.

Fact of the matter is, he was drafted 22nd, if he were one of the top 10 players in the draft he would have been drafted in the top 10. Take the money you deserve (22nd money) and prove that you deserve better, because the Browns will not give him top 10 money no matter how bad they need a QB, they just paid Thomas 42.5 MIL so, I'm sure they're not going to shell out another 35+ MIL for an unproven guy as most rookies are

Its hard to know what the browns will do. Yeah they shelled out 42.5 million for thomas, but, they gave away their first round pick next year for Quinn. Maybe he feels he should be getting some of the money they would be giving to the guy they would have picked next year.

I was disappointed today to learn that Brady was charging $75 per autograph per an article in an Orlando, Fl newspaper. Hope it isn't true as I beleive it tarnishes his image.

it's a common thing to charge for autographs. alot of players do it. and i doubt he's setting these prices himself. who knows though.

To clear up some hazy information...Brady was at a signing that was put on by a memorbilia company in which some of the proceeds went to charity, it was not Brady who was charging the $75 but rather the company who had set up and ran the event, he was just the featured player.

He still needs to sign and get to camp. He wasn't drafted in the top 10, so he should be happy he didn't drop any farther than he did. The further he dropped, the more he was going to lose, so at 22, he should have been signed and win the starting spot this year.

In addition, I think alot of us are overreacting. As Irish fans it has been a little too long since we have had a guy who was top pick rated and therefore haven't had too much of a vested interest in the contract negotiations of premier players. This happens every year and the media plays it up beyond belief and things are always settled in a respectable fashion. We have to remember that this is very much a business to all of these athletes and teams. The Browns will surely be profiting off of Brady, and I'm sure they already are, I wonder what their jersey sales are up so far this year in comparison to the past few years. It is never known what exactly is going on in negotiations between Brady's representation and the Browns and ESPN doesn't know shit about it either because neither side would be smart to play their hand to the media day in and day out. So ESPN and others will continue to play up the Brady holding out story all they can because Brady is a well known guy with tons of fans and a following, which turns into more viewers and readers. So before we jump to any conclusions and condemn this kid as being greedy and selfish lets try to remember that this happens with a ton of players every single year and will continue to happen for the rest of time. Lets support our boy in times like these because I sure as hell have enjoyed the past 4 years of him playing at Notre Dame and its the least I can do to pay him back.

I am a long long time ND supporter and I live near Cleveland. I think Brady is making a very very big mistake by not getting this contract done. He has fallen so far behind that this year will almost be a complete waste for him and the Browns. The team is installing a new offense this year and if he would have been to camp on time then he would have had a shot at starting the season. I can't understand why his agent and the Browns can't hammer out a deal to benefit both parties.
Brady caught a lot of flack for the autograph session.(75 bucks for a autograph????) but some of the money went to charity. Brady was paid a set fee for being there. Is this another case though of Brady's "handlers" giving some bad advice? Most fans in Cleveland aren't too happy with the situation right now and it will only get worse as long as he is a holdout

Maybe Cleveland fans should look at their organization then. How does all of the blame fall on Brady's shoulders? Should he just bend over and take whatever the Browns want to throw at him? As I understand it, the Browns gave up their 2008 first round draft pick to get back into the first round for someone they consider to the the face of the franchise, so why not treat him like that in contract negotiations? From what I understand the holdup is not the intial contract but rather the long term incentives. The Browns want to pay Brady #22 money for 5-6 years, however, Brady wants #15 money with incentives for becoming a starter with terms of 4-5 years. Its not like Brady wants #1 pick money with a huge signing bonus and a contract riddled with incentives, so if the Browns organization believe in this kid so much that they would give up next years first round draft pick and are serious about bringing a winning team back to Cleveland then why not work with someone who is more than likely to be successful and profitable for your organization?

Rumors suggest the deal is very close. He might even be on camp this Monday.

Yeah...Jimmy Donovan on WKYC tv channel 3 here in Cleveland and he does the Cleveland Browns dailyshow on SportsTimeOhio said that he thought there was a really good chance that Brady would be in camp by monday. Good sign.

Brady is making a serious mistake listening to Tom Condon. He should fire the guy and get into camp. Facts are simple...he was not the number 10 pick, he was the number 22 pick. Simple as that, and he should be paid accordingly. I am sure Matt Leinart felt the same way last year, but it is what it is. Get to camp, win the job, the money will come.

ESPN - Brady who? Frye, Anderson vie for Browns QB job - NFL

In Quinn's absence, Frye, Anderson compete for starting job

...

It's doubtful now, even if Quinn's contract situation is resolved within the next few days, that the former Notre Dame star can catapult himself into the battle for the starting job. In fact, while the organization remains disappointed that Quinn is not in camp, realistically, he was not expected to vie for the starting job.

He's smart to get the best deal he can, because the NFL doesn't guarantee another one. I just hope that the time out of camp doesn't hurt.
