Will there still be a hiatus?

Will there still be a hiatus?

The article said they will play each year. Does that mean that they will not take two years off when ND plays OU? I'd be glad to see the series continue uninterrupted, but that would be difficult to arrange if we insist on seven true home games and one neutral with 3 Big East teams....

It does seem like there will be no break. Bill Martin called it 25 uninterrupted years.

That means in 2011, we will most likely have Clausen or Crist at the helm...AND the team will be ALL WEIS...

So that year we would play OU-USC-UM.

Oh baby...what a year!!!

But, we'll still play the easiest schedule in the country (according to some).

Notre Dame, Michigan Agree To Extend Football Series Through 2031 :: Nation's two winningest programs now slated to meet annually for next 25 seasons.

"We are pleased to have reached a formal agreement with Notre Dame to extend our football series," said Michigan director of athletics Bill Martin. "We are thrilled that the series between two premier college football programs will continue uninterrupted for the next 25 years."

It looks like ND will be playing Michigan, Oklahoma, and USC all in the same year as long as the Oklahoma contract goes through.

This is awesome, I look forward to the scUM, and USC games more than any other each year, I guess b/c I hate them both so much. scUM, USC, and OU in one year, wow.

I agree that this will add a lot.

It's interesting how Michigan has come to be a rival in recent years...I guess when our other rivals starting sucking wind (like Iowa) we needed a replacement. Since Michigan had a rich history of it's own, it makes sense.

It's one of the best newly manufactured rivalries around.

I'm glad that the UM series will be kept alive, and that we won't have to drop an elite team like UM in order to play someone else, like OU. Dr. White is starting to drift over to my good side; just add a good team for the Citrus Bowl (and other things such as lower ticjet prices etc.) and he might just be likable.

I love the Michigan series, and by the time OU makes it on to the schedule, I think ND will be able to handle 3 top tier teams. I know it is tough and doesn't bode well for an undefeated season, but if you want to prove you are once again the best football team, you have to do it by beating the best. I have all the confidence in the world in Weis and I can't wait until the seasons with UM, OU, and USC and then the NC games. Awesome.

Lower ticket prices? hahahahaha I love ND, but let's be clear...negatively impacting the bottom line is not something White would ever be ALLOWED to knowingly do.

56, son of a! That's gonna leave a mark.LOL!!

At the same time, I'm soo excited about playing UM, USC, and OU in the same season. I have all the confidence that we'll take them to the woodshed, providing we keep recruiting the way we have been. It's awesome to think about those games.

2031, I'll be...........41? Wow, they really set that contract up for a long time. I really don't want to think about life 24 years from now.

Yeah, I figured lowering ticket prices would be a bit of a stretch; but if Kevin White wants to be on my good side he's gonna have to take some risks.:smilewink
