I love Zibby, but while he was a force in 2005...2006 BLEW. We can make excuses all day long about that performance, but the fact is he did not do that well last year.

I would LOVE to see him get considered for the Heisman, but he has some serious changes he needs to make to do it.

It's tough, the only guy I can think of in his position (although not his "position") to win the heisman was Charles Woodson. Woodson was highly hyped, Michigan won the National Title, and Woodson played offense as well as having many big punt returns. I don't see Zibby getting the same kind of love.

Who knows...maybe he'll have 20 picks and 10 punt returns for touchdowns...it could happen.

If "The Rocket" couldn't win it as an Offensive player and Return Man, I don't think Zibby can win it. There are too many Offensive guys out there to compete with. Go Irish!

Also, let's not forget that the Heisman is not about the best player in college ball... It's about the Best OFFENSIVE Player on the Best Team. On a medicore team even Jesus would not get the Heisman.

The Heisman is a joke.

Thats not necessarily true. Charles Woodson won it as a DB and return man.

And a few appearances at WRas well...on the NC team... If he was not on that team, he would not have won it.

Want more proof?

Gentlemen, I give you Troy Smith.
Who is the front runner for the Heisman this year? Booty.

Why? Because he's at USC.

I think McFadden is the front runner right now.

He will be ignored if Ark trips up and USC does well.

I personally think he SHOULD be the front runner...but I suspect those ball lickers at ESPN will just slobber all over USC's knob again...

After last season, I'd be happy with Zibby returning to 2005 form. He has the potential to be a first day draft pick. It all depends on being injury free and adapting to the new D. Heisman though? Unlikely. He'll lose out to Armando or Jimmy!!!

Let's just say the Zibby is a bit of a reach for the Heisman.

Zibby is my favorite player, but I think the biggest Heisman candidate for the Irish has to be Sam Young, or Chris Stewart right now.

I don't know if I would say lock. I'm telling you he has pretty steep competition on his own team between Sammy Young, and Joe Brockington.

According to ESPN the Heisman goes to the best player on the best team, which makes Zibby 2 for 2!

Seriously though, he ends up #3 behind Clausen and Aldridge (in no particular order) because of the offensive bias.

are you questioning something that someone on espn said?
