There is an article in spotsillustrated.cnn.com citing several incidents involving University of Florida football players. Among them are drug use, weapons charges, fights and a parole violation. Apparently they have not attracted the finest of citizens.

Urban Meyer was on ESPN radio last week and he talked about how he had Bill Belichek(sp) at spring practice and talked to players. Things mentioned included something like alot of his players came there and found themselves at third base and thought they hit a triple. I interpret this as alot of overconfidence by UF players. They may be in for a rude awakening during SEC play this year. (Incidently, this third base line is a rip off of a Pearl Jam song).

The problems they speak of in article sounds like the problems the "U" had after their last run at the top.

One day there will be a point where these types of players will not go to the next level in football. With all the trouble in the NFL and college these days, sooner or later the people at the top are going to put a stop to it. They will not only be looking at 40 speed but also character as well. Makes me sick to think that kids look up to these guys and all they can do is act like a freaking idiot! If it doesn't happen it sure should.

As much as I hate to say it, it doesn't really surprise me in the least. FSU, and the U have had their fare share of problem kids in the past, so it makes sense to me that Florida would only have the same problems with kids eventually. We need a good "Catholics vs. Convicts" or something like that in the future, just insert a Florida Universtiy for the slot.

A classless guy and a classless school. He is a front runner and when this thing tanks will jump ship fast. IF the mighty U and FSU had down years UF will. Remember they were the third place team in that state for a long time. Even when the ole ball coach was there! Urban took the easy way to an NC and will pay for it later. Can anyone name a SEC team that has not had any type of player problems in the last decade?

Like the old joke, U of Tenn wears orange so they can play on Saturday, hunt on sunday and go back to jail the rest of the week. Course I guess that works for any "Orange" school. And to answer your question, lots of the ones that have sucked...but not all. I don't recall perennial stomping ground Mississippi State getting into trouble. I think Ol Piss has stayed clean. And someone already mentioned Vandy. And, well, I guess that's about it.

I have always been a U Tenn fan because their coaches always speak respectfully of ND.
