Anyone remember that (was it adidas, maybe?) commercial in the mid-90's with Montana and Father? That still makes me laugh whenever I see it.

If you search Notre Dame Commercials in the Lep Lounge you'll find a whole forum of them.

UH OH, this golic looks more like Greeny...

Well Greeny and Golic have only been doing the show since '99, or '00 can't remember exactly when the show started, but I know I was a soph., so there goes your theory since Jake was born in the early '90s.

I think that they started doing the show together in 98. It was immediately better than Golic's previous teaming with Tony Bruno (ugh).

Who wants to bet that he will be the 1st commit in his class, just like his brother, his father, his uncle......you get the picture.

Although, being a preferred walkon sure would be nice for the schollie situation next year.

Theres no way he's coming as a preferred walk-on. The kid has legitimate talent worthy of a full scholarship.

a little off topic ,i thought i read somewhere(don't remember where) that there was a possibility that mike golic would pay for mike jr. to open up a schollie?

----I never saw that anywhere, but on a message board. Weis would never let Golic do that. Mike earned his scholarship so he got one. It's not going to happen.

I'm 99% positive that Mike Sr said that when his Mike Jr commited. He said if it would help the team, he would do it. I haven't heard it since, and we don't get ESPN radio in town anymore. So I agree with you rockne.

Preferred walkon does't have to be an insult, if you know the situation, like I'm sure Mike Sr does. Sure a kid wants the schollie, but Golic kids are probably different from regular kids, if you know what I mean.

Here's a question about Jake Golic.

Is he good enough to be our only TE taken next year? Seems like we've been taking the #1 (or nearly) TE in the country every year since Konrad came aboard.

I'm all for taking a legacy, but I believe that there will only be one TE taken next year, so Weis will have to make it count.

from what I understand, Jake Golic is a very good TE recruit, enough so that he could be the only one we sign next year. Go irish!

At this time Jake is a very good TE not elite but he's not to far off from being special and if the talk of Will Yeatman giving up football ends up being true then ND will bring in 2 TE's again in '09.

---I beg to differ about Golic not being elite. Do you know many TE's already in the '09 class that are studs? I haven't heard of one you're just assuming that because it's a Golic and a legacy. It's been widely thought of that Jake is the better ath. and may have the better future in football than that of Mike. One thing is for certain though with that family they will work their asses off for ND football and I don't see us taking anybody next year but Jake. We most likely will not take 2 next year even if and yes it's a big IF because one website speculated it and there's nothing to back it up. Weis has said he will use a pattern of 2-1-2-1-2 when taking TE's year to year. Just because Yeatman stops playing doesn't mean Charlie wants to overstock and take 4 TE's in 2 years. Especially if Fauria redshirts which is a good possibility because he needs to bulk up. I'll be more than happy to take Jake the Snake next year.

I haven't heard anything about Yeatman quitting football until a couple posts ago. Where is this coming from? I hope its not true because he seems like an outstanding athlete with size. I think he would be able to make a big contribution to our program.

THE IRISH BROGUE

Will Yeatman will probably end his football career after this season and concentrate fully on Lacrosse. He will get Charlie's blessing and easily become a college lax All-American. With Ragone, Reuland, Rudolph, and Fauria ready to go in '08--not to worry. We tend to believe it.
