Im kind of excited to see who Michigan picks up, hopefully it will be some team from a non BCS conference.
Look at our schedule as it is now, it is really no differant than if we were in a conferance. I look at it as if we're in a conferance the way our schedule looks now. Conferance teams scheule mid majors to beat the crap out of. ND fans like to think that we're better and special compared to teams in a conferance, but by looking at our upcoming schedules, looks like we're a conferance team to me.
One last thing. Do you really like the fact that our AD publicly states that he's wanting to water down our schedule? Or, the fact that we told Bama" that we have no room on our schedule, but WSU is now on our schedule? I just feel that we're good enough to play top competition anyplace, and at anytime. With the recruits that CW, and CB are bringing in, why in the hell are we afraid to play teams from around the rest of the country that are great teams? I would rather watch a great game with a traditional power than watch some blowout against a mid major that should have never been on our schedule to begin with.
I know I probably sound like a whine ass to you, but I expect better from ND. Some of the games on our upcoming schedules just don't look like they're very interesting.
I prefer to keep both AND add better teams. I would love it if each week we played, say, MI, MSU, Tenn, OU, Penn St, sc, Bama, tOSU, miami, fla St, Purdue and Pitt (so that we kick the shit out of mark may's school every year).
With that schedule, not only would each Saturday be F'ing fantastic to look forward to, but we'd get tough quick and nobody could talk about our SOS. And, yes, many many awesome cheerleaders led by sc, Tenn, fla. st., miami, Bama, and MI actually has some of the best yr in and yr out. (I caught that other thread - lol)
...and we would never play for a National Championship ever ever ever again...
Well I tried to include my original post but not sure why just the one showed up...
Anyway, think about it...we beat Pitt yr in and out...Purdue, same. MI St. Penn St, probably, that's four wins a yr. Then the rest is gut wrenching games with teams we will be able to run the table on - in the not too distant future - in any given year.
Tenn, fla. st, miami, OU, wait...look at it this way...
Only sc, tOSU, and MI of that schedule were real good last year. And actually, tOSU and MI were exposed as posers n their bowl games...And I KNOW we are going to have some very very very good teams upcoming...
Not so crazy if you break it down. And think of those 3 fantastic Saturday's of no margin for errors...man, I would love it.
You would love it, but we would lose like 3 a year.
Think about the best teams EVER since Rockne...how many undefeated seasons did we have? Four. That's it. Four.
1988
1973
1949
1947
There is basically no margin for error anymore...playing more than 2-3 TOP teams is like flushing a National Championship down the drain.
We are going to have the talent and the coaching (CW/CB) to go undefeated against a schedule like that (and especially them all with their last year's teams). Plus when you are the best, you win all because you ARE the best.
I honestly would rather see UM. I could care less about MSU. I have always viewed this one as a let down game for the team, which usually, as of late, had negative conotations later in the season.
I do not like any of the proposed changes. I do not want to be like everyone else and play Tiffin, Fla. Int. and the like. Keep Neveda, San Diego St. , Baylor and the others off our schedule. Put OU and Ala on but take a break from BYU, Stanford, and those teams. We should play UM, MSU, USC, Navy, Purdue, and BC every year. Some other teams could alternate spots, Pitt, PSU, Miami, FSU, GaTech, UCLA, WASH, and similar teams. If we go 12-0 with a schedule that includes some patsy we will hear it more than UP, LSU, FSU or anyone!
