The Grass is Greener Under TD Jesus

All the talk over the last few days about commits rethink their verbals has got me thinking. (I know you can just see the smoke!!! Don't remind me!!!) Is it the draw of playing with the talent that we have verbals from? Could it be CW and CB? Or a combination of both? Hypothetically, say the Trevster decides to decommit and pledge to ND....read this sentence again...we don't want any wildfires to come from this statement! (Hypothetically!!!!) Then, continuing in this make believe world, say ND looses their first 4 games. (STOP RIGHT THERE!!!! ND WILL NOT LOOSE THEIR FIRST 4!!!!!!!!!) Will these grass is greener kids jump ship again...or do you think that it will be looked at as a rebuilding year and won't be weighted as heavily?

I don't believe any of these kids are stupid. They know exactly what kind of situation ND is in this year. They also know that something special is about to happen at ND with all the talent that is committing. They could look elsewhere, but why be just another good player at an established school, when you can become part of history bring ND back to prominence

Hopefully the kids we get are all Notre Dame type kids. With that being said, we do need some of the raw talent type guys that sometimes make those choices. Catch 22...so all you can do is Hope we go 4-0!! If not I think Corwin and Charlie have this game on lock!

Damn fine post and one which I'd hope makes one think about the type of athlete we're recruiting under the Golden Dome. These are character kids who've not only been through the ringers of CW's selection process and background checks, but through admissions as well just to make sure they are ND men...We Are ND...you're either with us or against us. The gentleman we've gotten to verbal to this point know the drill. Don't verbal unless it's binding...otherwise we're looking...what happens with other programs is their problem, but I think CW and CB have a pretty firm grasp on what is going on now.

We're in good hands ladies and gentleman...we're in good hands. :)

I do wonder what CW tells the recruits. He tells the press he thinks he can win every game, and expects to go undefeated. I like that positive attitude. However, most fans realize that is unreallistic. If he tells the recruits this, then we lose 4 - 5 games (anything less is a good year, IMO) this year, how does that sit with them?

I know he is a straight shooter. I would assume he lays out all the facts with the recruits differently than he does the fans. I would like to be a fly on the wall though.

I think he tells the recruits that ND has the tools to win every game. That doesn't mean that they will. Who wants to play for a coach that thinks that they can't win every game? Think about CW's success at New England, they may not have won every game during his tenure, but the potential was there. That's why they were so feared, as a team. I think that it's the same at ND. Teams fear what they can do! And it's only going to get worse for them from this point on. IMO the coaches that are facing ND are quaking in their boots, because there is such an unknown factor involved with ND this year. They don't know what Charlie is going to do and they are all scratching their heads trying to find out.

Based on Trev reconsidering I do have a thought buried in my head that I will just toss out here:

Last years recruiting losses at the last minute were upsetting-I hope that the ND coaching staff has not been continuing to contact him after his verbal to NU. Last year, Weiss' laid out some "rules" from Smith's decommitment from Iowa. I hope those were followed with Trev too. I want ND to be completely above board.

I agree Bolt!!! All of the other football factory fans out there wanna razz on ND for having some frickin' integrity. It's in these exact instances that sets ND apart for those said football factories. (Coughing....Miami, Bluckeyes, Clemson) I would rather loose a couple of games a season than tarnish the greatest program in the country. But the upside of all of this is that we won't be loosing a couple of games a season and we will still have our integrity. Rock-on-Irish!!!

I absolutely agree. You know the haters are biting at the bit to say something negative about us...

Read the last few pages of Trev's profile. Speculation is that he's been looking lately. With that being said, I do think that the coaching staff is above "negative recruiting".
