By this point it should not come as a shock to anyone, but Notre Dame defensive coordinator Cowin Brown is a recruiting force, and he just landed another top defensive recruit. This time it was DB Robert Blanton from Matthews, NC, and while Robert generally plays Safety in high school, he has been recruited to play CB at ND. This time Coach Brown had to fight off schools such as Virginia Tech, UNC, and once again Michigan where many once thought Robert was a lock to end up. With his commitment RJ (Robert Jr.) becomes the 15th member of the Notre Dame recruiting class of '08, the 8th on the defensive side of the ball, and the 1st DB.

Just figured I'd bump this since I created it earlier today, but just recently moved to it to a public forum.

Welcome to ND RJ! :rockwoot:

I like Tony K's version better, The University of College Football in America. Plus it tends to tick off a bunch of people at SEC schools, and other place like USC, Michigan, O$U, etc. which makes it even better.

I just hope we can keep Corwin around for a while. He's has Head Coach written all over him. College or Pro.

He obviously is a master at recruitment and a good people-person. The jury is still out on his coaching abilities, at least at ND. I do like him so far....

When I look at our defensive recruiting, some of the guys came here because Notre Dame sold itself. But as for the others, there are probably three guys that we genuinely had to go to work on to get on board:

1. Darius Fleming - His Dad didn't even like ND from the get go, but after Corwin worked his magic, his Dad said if there were any one school to pledge to early for Darius, it'd be Notre Dame (talk about turn around).

2. Omar Hunter - We all know how he was a huge Wolverine fan growing up. Some of the credit should go to his HS coach, for telling him to wait it out a bit and to visit certain campuses, but we don't get Omar if we still have Rick Minter, period.

3. Robert Blanton - If he wasn't going to be a Wolverine, he would have been a Hokie had it not been Corwin on the phone with Blanton. His stepdad keeps saying that Corwin hands down out-recruited everyone else.

Now first, notice that all three of these recruits come from different levels on the defense. One is a LB, one is a DL, and one is a DB. Translation? Corwin isn't just a one trick pony that caters to DB's due to his previous experiences.

That in mind, who are the defensive commits that have the most hype surrounding them? You're probably looking at Fleming, Hunter, Blanton, and Anthony McDonald if you're looking for hype. Maybe Cwynar if you talk to a Midwestern guy.

My point being? Corwin is hitting home runs with the kids that matter most - the recruits that can turn things around on defense.

--------I mean think about it...If we didn't have CB and Flemings dad disliked ND alot, then Darius could've been our opponet for the next 4 years(USC.) Omar could've suited up in maize & blue. Blanton in Maize & blue and the 10000 other prospects we took from Michigan.

and the world was once flat... pluto- planet

Well for Pluto to keep it's planet status they would have to start giving away planet status to who knows how many other space objects. They have already found at least one other Kiper Belt object, which has since been named Xena that has an orbit simlar to Pluto's elliptical orbit, rather than the more circular orbit on the same plane as the Sun like the rest of the planets. Plus it's bigger than Pluto. Many also believe that Charon (Pluto's Moon) was once a Kiper Belt object too, that was then later caught by Pluto's gravity.
