6 Penn State Players Charged Over Off-Campus Fight

BELLEFONTE, Pa. — Six Penn State football players, including stars Anthony Scirrotto and Justin King, were charged Friday over an off-campus apartment confrontation earlier this month.

Scirrotto, a safety, and Christopher Baker, a defensive tackle, face the most serious counts, including burglary, felony trespassing, harassment and simple assault. King, a cornerback, and three other players face charges including harassment and disorderly conduct.

Police have said they received a report that shortly after midnight on April 1 about 10 men pushed their way into an apartment and assaulted several male partygoers. That clash was apparently connected to a "street confrontation" about an hour earlier, police said.

Residents of the apartment received a letter a few days later that asked them to drop the charges, a university spokesman said. It was signed, "The Voice of the Penn State Student Body."

Scirrotto was the Big Ten's leader last year in interceptions and King was one of coach Joe Paterno's top recruits in 2005.

Guarantee Charged PSU players will start vs ND

Guarantee Charged PSU players will start vs ND

I read this article and think "Well that leaves Both King and Scirrotto out of the ND game.... Then I think Ok it is Joe Paterno - who is a stand up guy - but only gave Dan Conner off a half for harrassing a former coach, and gave three players a game off against Akron when they were shooting arrows through walls in thier dorm without knowing if someone was in the neighbor dorm room.

So here is what they will get - Full suspensions for all three for games 1(Buffalo) and 3 (Fla international).

On a side note - I looked over the Big 10 schedule and the schedules are soooo weak- outside of some teams in the big 10 playing Michigan and Ohio state (not all do) they shedule teams like Bowling Green, Akron, Youngstown State, N/S/E/W Michigan, Buffalo, Temple and others - check it out! I hear Penn State fans ragging me all the time because ND playes Army/Navy/Air Force.

Paterno will play all of them. They might sit out against Florida Atlantic or Buffal, but I guarantee they WILL play against ND. Paterno isn't the saint he's always portrayed as, just like Tom Osborne.

To quote the brilliant Jerry Seinfeld, "That's a shame".

With all due respect to Paterno, he may not even be alive by the ND PSU game. Love of the sport is one thing, but 80? RETIRE, REST, ENJOY.

any one else think this is the last season that psu is somewhat descent. I say they go 8-4 with a bowl loss. I was looking at there recruits and so far they only have 1 commit. The fall of penn state.

I don't see him on the recruiting trail a whole lot.

I don't see him coaching much either. I think he was doing a crossword puzzle in the booth during their bowl game. He wasn't wearing a headset. Also, how did he get a win for the game he watched from home after the injury? I would think that you had to be in the stadium at least.

PSU is good at times and then they're not, that is at least what the cycle seems like. As far as recruiting goes they're always notoriously slow in the the beginning, but they'll put a decent class together, but nowhere close to ND. What scares me is when JoPa goes they will get a high profile coach in their and if he can recruit, kids will be flocking there. I hate PSU but as soon as they get rid of that walking corpse i can see PSU becoming a very good team again.

I haven't looked at their schedule but they should have an impressive lineup on the offensive side of the ball. Morelli is like an 8th-yr senior & the skill players are extremely talented.

Paterno might have been coloring instead of doing a crossword puzzle in the booth at the bowl game. He certainly wasn't coaching.

You nailed it. The guy is scared sh*tless that he will follow in the footsteps of his old friend Bear Bryand and die a couple of months after he retires. Never mind that plenty of other coaches have lived long, productive lives after they hang up the whistle (e.g. Ara and Lou).

Get Bowden to retire? No way; like Paterno, I want him to see him hang on and embrace mediocrity for as long as he can.

I don't want Bowden to retire as long as Paterno is coaching. I don't want Paterno to regain the lead in wins. I just don't like the guy, I'm sorry. Go Irish!

Wow - that's funny; I feel just the opposite. I'm much more of a Bowden hater.
