"My dad talks a lot about the black and gold," Kemp said with a smile. "But he wouldn't mind the green and gold either."

Kid is a legacy at Mizzou, but loves Notre Dame, too. Doesn't hurt that we have his teammates Paddy Mullen and Munir Prince here already.

He is regarded as the best player in the state of Missouri class of 2008. Also would like to make his decision early, possibly this spring or the summer before his senior year.

I saw this guy play in the state championship game last year with Munir and Paddy. In my honest opinion, he was by far and away the most impressive player in that game. If my memory serves me correctly, he had 3 TD catches. He was also just a SOPHMORE when this game was played. I was thinking to myself that this was the kid from Desmet that Charlie needed to recruit. It could be hard to lure him out of state, what with Mizzou being 6-0 at this point. I know he is only a junior and there is still plenty of time left, but in my opinion, I see him going to Mizzou.

By the time he decides, ND will have a full stock of recievers including: Grimes, Hord, West, Gallup, Jackson, Parris, Kumara, Little?, Benn?. I don't see him getting significant playing time behind these guys until his senior year. Mizzou, naturally, won't be nearly as stocked at WR and I know there are a couple of WR at Mizzou from STL. William Franklin is a sophmore and is starting there, Jeremy Maclin was a 4 star reciever this past year but went down with a season ending knee injury. Also, Pinkel does a good job of recruiting out of STL and with his recent success and a young QB in Chase Daniel, I just don't see ND getting this reciever. I could be wrong though. I just know that whichever of the two that he chooses, I will remain a happy camper (see my screen name).

Kemp is leading DeSmet and the league in receiving with 31 catches for 652 yards (21.0 avg) and 6 touchdowns. His team is 2-4 on the year.

If he's interested in ND and Stanford that's a pretty good sign that his academics are in order as well.

just got back...

just got back...

guys, i just got back an interview with him i did...here it is.

Wes Kemp Interview

1) Which schools are you interested in?
Mizzou, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Notre Dame

2) Do you have a leader as of now? If so, which school?
I really don't have a leader, but I will say I'm leaning toward the more academically successful schools.

3) What is your work ethic like? How many hours a week do you work out.
I work out 7 days a week. Monday-Saturday 3 hours of Lifting/ cardio. Sunday is just 1 hour cardio.

4) Do you think you're academically prepared to go to college?
Yes, I attend a Private College Prep School which I think does a pretty good job of preparing me for college.

5) What's your key to being a good receiver?
My key to being a good receiver is combination of size and intensity. When I get the ball I like to think there is no one who can stop me from getting in the end zone. I'm 6'5 215lbs playing against 6 foot corner backs I just like to run over, through, and around them.

6) Will knowing people at a school affect your decision at all?
I think it can. Knowing Munir and Paddy definitely makes me lean a little towards Notre Dame, because I know 2 people from my school are doing well there.

7) Do you have a planned time when you'll make your decision yet?
I'd like to make my decision before my senior season if I have a school that I really like, but if not then I'd probably commit sometime after the season.

8) How will you prepare yourself for D1 football?
Physically and Academically I think I'm as prepared as can be. The only thing I think I'll have to adjust to is the college life. So I feel if I keep on doing what I'm doing I'll be fine.

9) What is the main thing you're looking for in a school?
The main thing I'm looking for in a school is the combination of a great atmosphere, academics, and athletic program. The 3 A's.

That's also a sophomore year number, probably. Don't read too much into 40 times at this stage.
I agree and people have to realize alot of these 40 times aren't accurate anyways. One of these recruiting sights had Joe McKnight with a 4.7 forty time at one point.

I agree with Svo...looks like he could be a future TE to me. 6'3" 223?? That's one big wideout.

6'3 223 - Man, back in the day he could have been an O-Lineman. It's crazy how times change and now-a-days a player of that size is playing a "skill" position. Anyways, I think this will be a Mizzou / ND battle and ND should come out on top because:

1) We have seen that tall receivers have had a lot of success in Charlie Weis' offense
2) He has a couple of his hometown players on the ND roster and they will probably host his visit.

Isn't ND only taking in two WR's next year, and havent they already offered Dan Buckner and Michael Floyd? If so, it seems either one of those two would have to commit elsewhere or Kemp is going to have to change positions for him to fit into ND's plans.

Buckner isn't leaving Texas, so ND should keep their options open for other prospects.

I expect them to take atleast 3, Weis & Co. told Buckner and Floyd that the '07 class was only going to have 2 WR in that class but at one time they were going to take a bigger WR class but that didn't pan out. Since '07 was expected to have more WR and only ended up with 2, I expect them to make up for it in the '08 class.

I think ND has a fair chance to get Buckner. The player IMO that going to be hard to get out of Texas is RB Justin Johnson(most likely the #1 RB in the nation).

It is problably because we have a VERY good chance at landing Floyd and Brice Butler, that would make three for this class including Goodman. We are definently not taking 4, but if one of them decides somewhere else he may get one.

Agreed. I've also heard that he might still be growing, and end up as more of a TE prospect. With two on board at TE, and one on board with two others very high on ND, Kemp is the first guy on the outside looking in.

I figured he'd end up at Iowa. Wisconsin has a lot of offers out to recievers, must lack some depth.
