Tubby Smith is leaving Kentucky to go to U. of Minn. Sorry if this has been posted already.

Tubby is a good guy & a good coach, but Kentucky deserves a great coach. When your best year is your first year on the job, it shows the program has regressed in some way. When it comes to college sports, especially basketball, that means recruiting.

It's not like this doesn't happen all the time...Tubby just left before he got fired. Larry Coker can probably relate.

Tubby will do great at Minnesota & I'm sure his blood pressure/stress levels will decrease drastically. Looks like Steve Alford had the same idea.

UK bball fans are kinda like ND football fans in a lot of ways. anything but the final four is a disappointment, and even losing in the final four is not good. i agree that tubby will probably be better off at Minn.

He is way better off, so is Minnesota. He needs to get his recruiting act in order tho, it will be harder where he is now.

Know whats sad? This is Charlie Weis' future if he doesn't start winning championships. Not my feelings personally, but I think if we don't start winning the rivalry games(UM,USC,MSU) every single year and winning national tites I worry that ND fans will start calling for his head. Tubby is a great coach but he didn't go out and get those top notch recruits like Uk fans are used to. He wanted guys that fit his system and that he could coach and keep in school all 4 years, not the one and doners. Sad really but he'll be happier at Minnesota I think.

and Charlie won't get 10 years either... although Tubby did win that initial NC his first year to keep the fans at bay for a while.
