Best Picture? (Oscars)

Did anyone see the Oscars lastnight? Even though The Departed was a great movie, it's was no where near the Orignal version Infernal Affairs ( Japanese subtitled) . Which I hightly reccomend. I thought Babel should of won.

Is it Internal or Infernal Affairs because I will check it out. I liked both Babel and the Departed. I thought that they were both excellent movies. I would have to say I liked the Departed better though. I haven't seen the Queen but I have seen Little Miss Sunshine which was good. Babel and The Departed were both a step above the others.

Can a picture under 2 and a half hours win anymore? It seems people equate quality work with long and pretentious. Not knocking Departed, but I'm trying to remember a Best Picture in the last 10 years that wasn't LONG......Titanic, LOTR, Shakespeare in Love, Departed,etc.

It won best documentary and best song (I think it was Best Song by Melissa Ethridge).

It's not a surprise that it won though, it was well put together, conceived, and designed. There are a couple of innaccuracies in it, but NO documentary is ever 100% right. They are simply editorials of some sort or other.

Polluting less...not a bad topic in general.

I thought it might not, but looking at how it was put together I knew it would (versus the other documentaries)

I'm a movie buff that why i watch. But I agree it can be shorter, to have you sit through the Technical awards for the first hr and half was crazy.

I'm there with you, Stonebreaker. Even the f'n best Animated film award ended up being slathered in politics. I know a lot of people that walked out of 'Happy Feet' either out of boredom or because their children were terrified. Cars was robbed.

And don't get me started on Jerry mother f-ing Seinfeld.

Did you catch Olberman on Dan Patrick's show today? Even he agreed that the Oscars is all about showbiz & reactions & knowing that 99.9% of the crowd would be HUGE Norv Turner...er, I mean Al Gore, fans it was obvious to Olberman, the self-professed liberal, that the voters take stuff like that into account when voting. I mean those limousine liberals in Hollywood would buy tickets to hear Al Gore's monotone ass read the Bible.

Olberman did acknowledge that the doc was well put together & made some good points & some bad points but that most of the hype came from Gore's name. Which you can't blame him for using that to push his stuff, most people would do the same. His point was that the voters knew this would get great applause from the Hollywood audience.

LMI, that was Melissa Etheridge who won the award for "Best Song".

Well tell that to Dan Patrick b/c he's the one who has Keith Olberman on his show for an hour every day. I see more windshield time than most people sleep, so XM keeps me awake. In fact, every sports talk show I listened to had to go over the Oscar picks on Monday. WHy? Because the sports world is so freakin' slow right now. Slow sports news days lead to boring topics which lead to topics outside sports. Deal w/ it. BTW, who's Oprah?

The Oscars are a joke anyway. Think about it, they make an award show to celebrate how great they are. How pompous!

I mean come on your entertainment, that's it. I don't need to hear you speak. I pay you to entertain, not to give opinions. Hollywood should think of themselves as high paid strippers and last time I checked strippers don't get paid to talk!
