Any chance that we'll switch Mo Crum back to OLB? I thought that was where he played in '05, and he seemed to have trouble playing on the inside this year ... though maybe things are different in the 3-4?

Enlighten me, boys.

QB- Jones, Clausen, Frazier, Sharpley
RB- Aldridge, Thomas, Prince, Allen, Hughes
FB- Schwapp, Schmidt (say those names together fast) lol
WR- Grimes, Hord, West, Kamara, Tate
TE- Carlson, Reuland, Yeatman, Ragone
OL- Young, Carufel, Sullivan, Stewart/Webb
DL- Laws, Ryan, Kuntz, Neal?
LB- Smith, Smith, Crum, Brockington
CB-Lambert, Walls, Wooden, McNeill, Gray
SF-Zibby, Bruton, H. Smith
K- Walker, Burkhart
P- Price
PR- Zibby, Tate
KR- Tate, Prince

I'm not sure about T. Thomas. I'd like to see the young guys get most of the carries, but who knows where he will fit in.

I could be wrong, but I thought this was one of the 3-4 defense vs. 3-4 personnel. I believe in the 3-4 ND is gonna run, Weis said the OLBs would be the tweeners between DE and LB. so I think in that situation, Crum would stay inside. there's more indepth stuff in various pressers, etc by Weis.

I agree with the predictions for the most part, though Zibby is a little small for OLB, he would increase the overall speed on defesne. If Allen doesn't start at RB, look for him and West to KOR. Not sure how you can keep Lambert out of the starting rotation ???

You are correct, which is just another reason added to the many why the Zibby to LB talk is way way way way way way way way off.

I think Clausen will be number 2 but I think Tate will be in the reciever mix. I would be shocked not to see TZ start somewhere with his heart and determination.

Im only going to say a couple of positions but:
QB- Clausen, Frazier
RB- Aldridge, Allen
WR- Grimes, West, Tate, Kamara
TE- Carlson, Ragone

is zibby going to be safety or linebacker?

alright guys, the deal with Zibby being at linebacker is only my own wishful thinking.

I, not too long ago, thought he might be better at LB. Now, I'm counting on him having a monster season thanks to a new DC. I really don't see him as being big enough to shed OL blocks, but he would be a better LB than Travis Thomas. He will (should) stick at SS, and hopefully the new D will not react so slow. Between so many talented young guys, and a new D, this team should be more exciting to watch than last year!

Obviously, Zibby is a great athlete. But what many people don't understand is that Rey Herring is a STUD as well. I would like to see both on the field at the same time.

the thing is, now we have a lot of studs at a lot of different positions. it's gonna be impossible for them all to get on the field as much as different people might like.

Noticed that II has a free line to their pre-spring depth chart. A couple of interesting tidbits:

-Sharpley QB1; Clause QB4
-Thomas @ starting RB
-Laws @ starting DE; Kuntz @ NT????
-T Smith not a starting LB
-Both Wooden and Lambert @ CB1

Hope I'm okay posting the link.....

I thihnk at this point, that is just a default depth chart. It all looks to be listed by seniority. I would bet that the final depth chart looks no where near that one.

I noticed that Vernaglia was listed as backup LB to Ryan. He's been a disappointment at ND. I remember Pete Carroll recruited him to the bitter end & Vernaglia ended up being the only recruit that USC lost out on that year.

So did Corwin Brown at Virginia

yeah there was absolutley no effort put into that Depth chart, it's a joke, they just put players who are the oldest. I thought Mo Richardson is an OLB but they have him in the middle, Chase at WR and hes not returning this year ( Confirmed by Charlie in his presser today) and Kuntz at Noseguard is laughable and no Duval Kamara in there anywhere even if hes a freshman

I dont see why nobody has Jimbo at starting Q. I think its best for the future of the team if he does.

The reason that nobody has him as starting QB is that he hasn't earned it yet. He hasn't done anything at Notre Dame yet. He will have a great chance to start, all he has to do is work harder than the other 3 top-tier QBs. Good luck...

i think it's kinda a rule, freshmen go to the bottom of the depth chart to start off no matter what. heck, if I recall correctly, even when Julius Jones first came back, he was listed at the bottom of the depth chart. he's gonna have to work his way up.

and i think it's kinda standard procedure to add an inch or two and a couple pounds to everyone on the team. for example, david grimes is listed at 6'. in reality, he's probably about 5'9".
