Do you agree with Weis's committ policy?

Well that makes 4, thanks.

If I changed my opinion every other post would that suit you better?

Sorry you arent happy with the top 10 class this year. I know signing day was a disaster and all but hopefully you'll get over it.

Charlie Weis cured my cold, he spread flower peddals on my lawn. He can do no wrong ever. Damned be the ND fan that calls him out on a obviously hypocritical statement.

Little and Little - ND commits that were lured by other programs

Walker and Smith - Iowa/Louisville commits lured by ND

Weis has stated that both of those guys called him first, after they were committed, and he wanted to make sure they were clear on if they were interested in ND or not. And then he told them to tell the coaches of their respective committed programs, before they proceeded...

Weis -
"I think it's very important from my standpoint, as the head football coach, that if I pick up the phone and call one of these guys, then I'm a hypocrite. But if one of these kids calls me and tells me he's interested, I inform him that this is the procedure we're going to have to follow."

See WBA, this is where you always lose your credibility. Show me a quote from me where I say that I was not happy with the recruiting class this year, or that signing day was a "disaster" In fact show me that quote from anyone here. It is your unrelenting, and obsessive criticism of Charlie Weis that I find most curious. Your failure to grasp the fact that the only hypocritical one here is you is clearly illustrated by your constant references to yourself as a "ND fan". Yep you and Mark May.

If that statement is true then I retract what I said.

Im a Weis fan but I'll call my own father out if hes full of shit.

Unrelenting criticism of Weis - lol

I criticized the Sugar Bowl performance but I guess a "real" ND fan would pick out the peanuts in that shit log and find good out of it right?

And I guess Im blasting Weis for being happy with the best recruiting class in 10 years at ND but not liking his calling for sweeping changes to recruiting across the board nationally because 2 wishy/washy recruits signed elsewhere.

I also didnt like when he complained about the poll during the year the Florida eating cheeseburgers thing. Looks pretty bad now after looking back at how the season shook out.

Im just not big on complaining about things after it doesnt turn out great for YOU.

Like my sisters friend who called girls sluts in high school, had a anti-abortion sticker on her car and then got knocked up and had an appointment at a clinic to have an abortion until my sister and others talked her down.

Too much of it these days, always somebody elses fault for everything or the system sucks. everybody wants the cops to bust the guy speeding down your street but when you get pulled over and get a ticket hes a "pig"

WTF?????? Did you answer anything that I said in my post, or did you just go off on a rambling dissertation on everthing wrong with the world today. Please do not get unhinged on me WBA, the world would be a lot less fun if you did.

Oh, I'm sorry, forget about the last comment, you have never shown the slightest inclination that you even know what the word fun means. Normally, I would add a wink here, but in this case it would be so inappropriate.

Is this what you do? All else fails then try to discredit the other guy? Am I running for office?

Let me break it down. If the 2 guys that ND lost had signed with ND then Weis sits up at the podium happy as a fly on caramel.

Since they didnt he wants sweeping changes and earlier signing days blah blah.

If it happened to Florida State or Cal or anybody else, he goes on with his business as usual, it isnt an issue.

Im just tired of people who dont get their way doing 180's and taking up causes or questioning the system.

If Marc Tyler and Joe McKnight told him theyre ND 5 minutes before faxing the letter, hed have cracked open a bottle of Merlot and lit a stogie that night.

What fails? WBA. I am not trying to discredit you, I merely pointed out that your response did not answer the questions that I posed, but merely went off once again on a rant that always has an anti-Weiss tinge to it. I do not need to discredit you, all you ever state are your opinions, but where are the facts.

Anyway, this has been too much fun packed in one day for me. I'm too old, can't handle all of this excitement. Was it good for you too, honey? OOPS! Forgot again, no sense of humor. In the immortal words of the Culture Warrior, I'll let you have the last word WBA.

I have one question and one question only:

What is wrong with this new policy??

Ok, two questions:

What is the problem with getting players that WANT to be at ND?

The 18 we got this year, wanted to be here. They want to be part of the ND football team and when they committed they knew that, maybe with the exception of Ian, but after talking to Weis and his staff, his concerns were put at ease.

Lastly, is it wrong with Weis to hold a kid to their committement? (ok, i had 3 questions) Will it chase off a couple recruits, yeah, so what. I think its about time that kids started being held to their word. Is it such a big deal that when a kid tells ND, I committ, they understand what that means, that they are locked into it, and if they want to look, then so is ND. Is that such a bad thing? What the hell am I missing here?

This is what Im saying but I see it different - What is the problem with getting players that WANT to be at ND? - That is what they got, 18 players that want to be at ND. The 18 players happen to be some of the finest athletes in the country and the class was a top 10 class in every recruiting publication out there.

This is what makes these policies nothing more than hollow words. So you have an early sign day. Ok, the players who arent sure will still bypass that day, the ones who are ND all the way sign.

If you pull an offer from a kid that visits someplace else, you just took yourself out of the running when in the end he might have signed with you anyway. So youre giving yourself less options in the end.

I have to side with weisbankacct on this one, actually. I dont' really think he is being that negative, just bringing up a different point of view.

Also, how interesting is a forum when 100% of the replies are on one side of the debate?

I don't think there is anything wrong with the new policy regarding committs. Weis is making sure that the people he has on board will stay on board, and he won't have to worry about them late in the game next year, like he did this year. Towards the end of signing day, Weis had to go all over the country making sure his current committs were still on board, and to assure them that everything would be ok. If he didn't have to worry about his current committs, he may have been able to spend more time working on other kids, who knows.

An eighteen year old is considered an adult, so they should have the same responsibility and attitude toward committment as anyone; it isn't right that some flip-flop their committments every few weeks, and it shouldn't be passed off as kids being kids. Weis wants to know that he can trust in who committs, adn if you can't trust 'em then, can you trust them on the field? If a kid decides to look around at other schools, Weis probably won't pull the scholarship offer, he is simply going to consider a kid uncommitted, and start to recruit other players in his place. If Texas can do it year in and year out, ND can do it too.

I have done enough to require the necessity of a politcs/religion subfolder although the mods are failing miserbably at this point. It has kept many of us busy for days now. Topics include, existence of god, global warming, Thomas Jefferson the atheist, etc..

I like the policy if they expect to get attention from coaches they have to stand true to their word. Why would we want them if they don't want to be here any way. He should keep doing things his way.

All I will ask you is if Little and Little signed on the line as ND thought, would Weis still be talking about recruiting policy changes?

If the answer is yes, it wasnt kneejerk. If the answer is no, it was kneejerk.

I suspect if everybody signed on as expected that day, the issue doesnt come up.

That's retarded. Just because it's a kneejerk reaction doesn't mean it's the wrong one? If you burn your hand on the lit stove, do you not yank your hand away? Yes, and with good reason. Then you make sure it never happens again.

My take is if these kids commit early to ND I would say to them "Look I don't want you talking to other coaches except for ND and taking visits to ND. If you don't apply by these rules I will take away the scholarship. If your a silent commit I would assume your open for recruitment Verbal means your going to ND and no changing your mind at the last time. Weis is smart for doing this I don't want another Little and Trattou deal.
