Performed very well at the AAA Jr. Combine, and he put up over 1,000 yards receiving during his Jr. season.

Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern and Purdue have all offered.

NU could be tough to beat here...his senior teammate Charles Brown will sign with the Cats on Wednesday. Unless Urban Meyer calls him.

I think it's more than 2. I remember the Floyd and Buckner article when people started saying that they said that they had offers and they are only going to take 2 WR's. I still maintain that they were talking about the '07 recruiting class because they even said that ND was once going to have a big WR recruiting class this season but after they missed out on some of there targets and Benn backing out of his silent verbal that they were going just with 2, Kamara and Little. While I think Tate will be a WR/CB he was recruited as a RB.

So the point I'm trying to make is that I think that they will take atleast 2 but I expect more, 2 will be the priority but if they can fill there holes that they need to and if there are grants left they will use those on the best players available and with Weis and his love of passing WR's will want to come to ND.

you may be right, but I have to think that a majority of the focus in 08 on the offensive side will focus on the o-line, i'm sure that Weis will take 2 TEs again, maybe 1 RB, but I can't see ND taking more than 2 WRs.

I am hoping that a majority of the offers will focus on D, namely LB and DL. If I remember right, as of right now for 08 there is 5 offers out for D, 8 for O and 1 ATH. I believe that is ahead of last years rate for offers, so it looks like Weis has learned from the kids that bit him in the ass this year. Don't pin all your hopes on just the "elites."

I could be wrong.

0 QB
1 RB
2 WR
2 TE
5 OL, including one "true" center

Lose Buckner to Texas, I hope Green gets an offer.

yeah i agree with you offensively

QB- 0
RB- 1
WR-2
TE-2
OL-5
DL-6
LB-5
CB-2
S-2

Thats 25 scholarships right there, but we should have more than just 25 for next year so maybe we can throw some more defensive players in there

Assuming we sign all of our verbals at this point:

QB 1...as someone will inevitably switch positions or transfer.
WR 2...but if we can pull off a Floyd, Buckner, & Green...you have to think about getting elite players while you can at any position.
TE 2
OL 3 after 6 last year and eventually at least 4 this class (I don't see BOTH Nuss and Nwankno at DT permanently)
RB 1
DT 2
DE 2
1 DL tweener DE sized now but growth potential into a DT
LB 3
S 2
CB 2

That would be a class of 21 which barring a lot of attrition is about what we will have to work with.

How can you not recruit a QB? So when Jimmy Clausen leaves as a junior to be the #1 pick, we will have no better than a sophmore off the bench the next year? Keep dreaming. We're bringing at least one QB in.

This year we also have a sophmore or even freshman as a starter, so that's not a problem I think. That doesn't mean i think you are wrong, my opinion is also that you must take a QB this year. But what great QB want to come in when Clausen and Jones are here..

Charlie Weis should never think that thought, and that is hopefully what separates Charlie from the common fan. As a coach, you have to believe you can recruit the best. No exceptions.

I think you are right! Charlie must think that, but if you were a 5 or 4 star QB would you come to ND if you see the Depth charts? You and I will come, because we are fans of Notre Dame, but most of the recruits want to play.

Having read that post, I'm the one that's wide awake.

You've baptized Clausen as an early entry #1 NFL Draft pick already?

You're assuming a lot about Clausen there, aren't you? You're also assuming someone will transfer, right? Hey, sign me up. I hope Clausen is the NFL #1 pick after three years. Maybe that means ND will have actually won a friggin bowl game or two.

For now, I don't think I'm gonig to assume that much. And if the staff recruits that way, they're morons and we're in for a long haul.

As far as bringing in at least one QB, you're in the minority on that one. Maybe they will and maybe they won't, but I think it would be a waste of a scholarship considering needs in other areas. And from what most are projecting, they don't plan on it as of now.

Florida signed THREE yesterday, all of them competing to scrub Tim Tebow's underwear.

Spring Ball and the 2007 season could tell us all we need to know.

As for Brandon Green, I noticed he made the Rivals Pre Eval Top 100.

I would expect ND to make a play here should Buckner head to Texas. They may have to contend with Northwestern and Illinois to get him.

That's under the assumption that JC plays his first year, and leaves his Junior year. If he does neither, he has two more years of ND for us. It's all speculation at this point.

Buckner WILL go to Texas i gaurentee that so Brandon will be a main priority

I Don't know about that, most of the quotes I've heard so far from Buckner seems he's very interested in Notre Dame. If the post-Brady Quinn pass offense at Notre Dame thrives, these recievers will see that its not the players, but rather the system which is successful and that would make their mouthes water.

It wouldn't suprise me, but UT doesn't exactly have a great track record for getting wideouts to League (Roy Williams excluded). But I do think that having McCoy at QB will probably cancel that out.

I'm not guaranteeing(sp) anything but I think Buckner will go to UT. I see ND getting Floyd, Kemp, and hopefully Green.

I can't say first hand and I don't want to start anything but I from everything I'ver heard is that Kemp while a decent player at the high D1 level, he's not anywhere near the level of talent of these other guys that ND is getting mentioned with.

I think guys like Brandon Green, Floyd, Tate and AJ Green will be major targets as well as many others top prospects and I still wouldn't count out Buckner, there is only 1 school that can beat out ND for him and that may very well happen that his home state school gets him but until it actually happens I'm a believer that ND still has a good shot to get him.

Not sure if this means anything, but Green's name came off of at least one site's interest list in regards to ND.

Recent offers to Goodman and Tate could have something to do with it.

Green is saying that he still has an interest in ND. Notre Dame & Ohio State are about the only 2 major midwestern schools that Green has expressed an interest in that have not offered him a scholarship. Right now, he is talking like he would commit on the spot if Ohio State offered.

I don't see why people continue to say that we're not taking a quarterback in this class. If Crist commits, are we just going to tell him "thanks, but no thanks?"

I mean -- the kid holds on offer, so there's gotta be some interest there. Why would we offer someone when we're not going to take anyone at that position?
